The cars from USA, they can't be used in Europe?

Are there anyone from Europe out here? A friend of mine, who is from Europe told me that, the car her husband purchased from U.S., it couldn't be used in Europe, especially in the gas station to pump gas, because both places have different standard in the design. It is not that you can't drive that car in Europe, it is hard to look for the parts when it has functional problems. And it might cost a lot more of money to get it fixed. So she told me. Is that a truth?

hahah! no, it is not that. both cars can be use on both continents- I am from Bulgaria, which is in the East of Europe, and there are many US cars here- the most are "ford" and people drive them without any problems. there is really no problems on gas stations or in the service-station! well, for the parts you are alsmost right- there are parts but they are very expensive because the import is from far away and there are high shipping costs!

Oh really? A friend of mine from Germany told me something about it, and she said there is a problem with her brother's car which he purchased from the U.S.A. Then he couldn't find a proper part to get it fixed somehow.

It goes without saying that if you import a specialist car somewhere without a dealer network to support it,then servicing it under warranty is going to be a problem as time goes on...it depends on the make and model and how resourceful your garage mechanics are! Some countries have requirements that need to be met before being allowed to drive an imported car on their roads, bringing a car to the US being one such case-I'm not sure of the procedures for an american car on european roads-at least the steering wheel is on the correct side!
