about wireless connections

I have a computer that may be wireless but when I bought the computer they never completed it to be wireless how can I find out where it is located and get it connected. I do have internet service but would be nice to use my laptop without having to use the adapter to put in to get wireless. My computer is a few years old and is xp. on the laptop. any ideas where I can look for this at and it is a hp pavilion z1130. thanks for help.

Hi my friend... try this, go to your control panel then head to network and internet connection... maybe there a lot to do there... but I will try to contact my uncle tomorrow, I would ask help from him... and then I will be back here if in case there you have not yet get help from anyone here...

thanks I will try to check this out but I have went to the connections and it shows up nothing so I know it is on there but needs to be maybe be started or downloaded or opend or something like that. thanks. let me know.

What I normally do is to go to System Device manager. If your computer has an inbuilt wireless adaptor it will be in the list. If it is, and there is a red cross next to it, then it means that there is some problem with the device driver. You will have to make the necessary steps to update the driver, and/or anythinh else that is necessary.
Certain laptop models have a physical switch, in addition to soft keys like pressing the CTRL and F5 keys to activate the wireless adaptor.

Chances are your wi-fi connection isn't turned on. Quite often there is a control setting that allows you to turn your wi-fi on and off. If you do that you should be able to surff the web. Use windows help to help you locate the on/off switch for your wi-fi connection.
