When you are depressed what kind of foods do you like to eat? I've read online that there are certain foods that can worsen or minimize a feeling of depression. Foods that are best when you're depressed are those with high in folate such as potatoes, banana, liver, fish, seafood and dark chocolate, or a cup of hot/cold chocolate. While foods that should be avoided when you're depressed are the following, alcohol, caffeine and foods that has artificial sweetener aspartame.

Oh, that's not a good thing my friend, you must need to eat foods especially when you're feeling down or depressed, because you're emotional in trouble and you need to somehow boost your physical aspects and protect your immune system as during those times it was in battle. We need foods and we must eat those nutritious foods for us to stay healthy. I hope one day you'll able to change that kind of habits. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

When I am depressed I tend to turn to chocolate. Chocolate Bar, Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate Pie whatever as long as it is chocolate. LOL. I am working on a healthier lifestyle so right now chocolate is off limits. I am stuck eating an apple or an orange. :-P

When it comes to chocolate there's only one thing that's best eaten but not too much, it's dark chocolate. Apples and oranges could be real good fruits as it's for immune system. As they said, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

When I am depressed I usually eat chocolate and ice cream. I dont know if there is a significance reason between these food and depression but in my own theory, I really like to eat these food because they are my favorite and I find joy in little things so they make me happy when I am depressed. When we are depressed, we also tend to think a lot and thinking a lot means the brain would utilize a lot of glucose in the body so eating something sweet will also help give food to the brain.

There is always significance reason between eating those kind of foods and depression, this article is taken from a web site it says that "ingesting chocolate stimulates the emission of endorphins, which is the product that makes one feel a "happy" after eating chocolate. It also contains serotonin, which acts as a natural anti-depressant, thus the reason that chocolate is known to relieve depression. Theobromine and phenylethylamine act as stimulants. Even with all of this knowledge, scientists are baffled why a product with over three hundred chemicals makes us feel so good." Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Although I love eating, I never eat when I'm depresed. It just doesn't get the job done! I prefer 100 times going out and riding my bike rather then staying at home eating anything I can find and getting fat later. But I could ride my bike and twhen i get back, then I'll eat something. Mostley choclate and cookies and stuff. They solve any problem, I guess.

Well we have different ways of fighting with depressions as for you, it makes you feel better riding your bike and that's good, while others prefer to eat or do other things. Yeah, it could not be good to just sit down and eat anything when you're feeling down as later it will makes one gain more weight. What is better I think is to just eat the right foods and do the right things to get through with depression. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Actually I don't eat when I feel depressed, I am just thinking and not sleeping all night that is why I lose a very very big weight when I get into a depression. I tried already not eating for almost 2 days and a half. And after that I lost a big kilos after that day. But because I was not yet in full recovery I am still continuing not eating a lot but I eat a little bit. I am hust drinking water to make me feel better.

Oh, really? In my own opinion that couldn't be good as we really need to eat and especially when we're depressed, although you're not going to die by not eating foods for days, but later it will affect your health condition. It's better to eat even little, just to have something in your stomach, not just water. Anyway, I hope you're doing better. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Good satwik food will transform the consumer into a peaceful and serene person. Satwik food consists of pure vegetarian and organically grown, with less salt, and without garlic and onion.

I like to eat comfort foods when I'm depressed or when I'm stressed. So, even though I know that I shouldn't, I tend to turn to greasy salty foods like potato chips, nuts, pretzels etc. Chocolate is also high on my list and I happen to like dark chocolate better than milk chocolate.

Yeah, dark chocolate was proven to be one of the feeling good foods and it has lesser fat content compared to other kinds of chocolate. Anyway it's always best to do something to make us feel better even with foods. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I eat Mexican or Southwest food when I am depressed. It tastes good and seems to clear me up when it is spicy. I can always go for a nice burrito, quesadilla, chips and salsa, or even some guacamole. It seems to be more comforting than the so called "comfort food". In addition, I find that soda comforts me, but I am trying to drink it more in moderation now after watching a news report about it's effects.

Hiya care,
Well I try not to eat those things but if I do it´s Dark Chocolate that is my thing.
Dark Chocolate with a few biscuits and Red Tea and that´s it. I don´t eat anymore after that. So I do try not to get that far either but sometimes on a Day like Today I am very tempted. So I have to hide the Chocolate out of sight at the very least. Very trying Day I would say so.
Sugar is not one of my things. In any case I would use Honey to calm me down with a Mint Infusion to go with it.

Whenever I am down or depressed, I always eat sweet foods. Ice cream, chocolates, cakes.. anything at all as long as it is sweet. It sure helps with the boredom and depression.

Yeah, usually people who are depressed loves to eat sweet foods and it's actually good especially chocolate, since it will boost the brain chemical, serotonin, which helps regulate mood and appetite. Even when I'm depressed I tend to eat lots of chocolate and sometimes ice cream. And yeah, it always makes me feel better. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I can't tell if I'm depressed. Sometimes I think I might be... I suppose everybody is to some degree. But what I've seen is that people tend to eat the very worst foods available when they're not feeling very good -largely carbohydrates - sugars - baked goods and candy. I assume this is some vain attempt to feel better - get some blood sugar in the blood - whatever.
But eating this sugar crap is counter productive because it illicits a huge release of insulin which knocks the blood sugar down and leaves you with less blood sugar than before. And a body full of insulin is a sleepy, unhappy body.
However - there are times when these horrific bad foods are all I want! Sometimes I can resist - sometimes i can't.

It has a scientific explanation, based on what I found on one of the website it says that "ingesting chocolate stimulates the emission of endorphins, which is the product that makes one feel a "happy" after eating chocolate. It also contains serotonin, which acts as a natural anti-depressant, thus the reason that chocolate is known to relieve depression. Theobromine and phenylethylamine act as stimulants. Even with all of this knowledge, scientists are baffled why a product with over three hundred chemicals makes us feel so good." This all explains well.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!
