Well the time we are supposed to sleep is about 8 hours. Even more for teens, I think it was like 10 hours recommended. Sleep is a huge factor in our health and lives actually. Sleep can have a big effect on our immune system, on how well we lose weight, and of course our memory. Its even been linked to lowering risks of certain diseases. I dont get enough sleep. I sometimes get only 5 or 6 hours a night. the most i usually ever get is about 7 hours. i feel like i should be getting more sleep. i am so far away from the recommended 10.
How about you? Do you get enough sleep?

I have no idea how many hours I sleep but in truth its less than 7 hours. If I sleep only 4 hours at night, I regain my lost sleep during the day. I am always smart after recovering my sleep but have lapse of judgment when drowsy. My parents use to give me advice like train myself to sleep more at night but that can be done only if I have enough juices in my brain to enable me to sleep more. It affected my studies badly to sleep during the day and I was told as lazy with keeping my grades. I just feel like contaminated by uranium during the day and I have much patience to learn at night. I'm not glad that education happens all day long when my energy only exist after dusk.

I seldom sleep at night because my shift starts at 10pm and ends at 9am. I have the whole day sleeping instead, usually from 11am until 6pm. It's really difficult for me to adjust my sleeping pattern now that I got used to the schedule already.

I need ten or otherwise I'll feel like a zombie the entire day, not getting enough sleep is one of the main culprits of early aging and weakening of the immune system, which in turn makes one weak to all major diseases, we need to go back to sleeping 10 hours like we did 100 years ago.

I love to sleep and can sleep for any numbers of hours at a stretch. During the weekends both me and my hubby go to sleep quite late maybe around 2 or 3 in the night but do not wake up before 2 in the afternoon. My hubby would still get up have a smoke, go to the restroom and come back and sleep but me I sleep like a log.

I get to sleep for 8-9 hours, so I believe I get good sleep. But if you don't get enough of it, I think you should think about it seriously. You know the dangers, you've mentioned them all here... I'll add a few more.. Lack of sleep can affect the psychological health of a human being and it is very dangerous... Memory gets affected, very true! There might be blood pressure issues and all... Get adequate amount of rest my friend, it is needed...
Happy myLotting!

I'm a terrible sleep and have been my entire life. For some reason if I have to get up in the morning, or have things to do, I have such a difficult time sleeping.
Essentially for my entire work week, I sleep for between 4 to 6 hours a night, and then on Sunday, when I finally have a day off, I can sleep for 12+ hours.
I seem to fall way behind on sleep for the week, than make up for it all in one day, than I'm ready to start my week off again.

For me the ideal ammount of hours to sleep is 8, but on weekdays I usually sleep 7 hours or less, as I'm busy, so on weekends I tend to sleep 9 hours or more. Today I slept 12 hours! I do it to make up for the hours that I didn't sleep this week, but I'm not really sure if it works or not

it all depends upon the day . if its a week days i have to go to college so i have to get up at 6 am in the morning . but i will sleep only at 12 or 12:30 in the night on most of the days . so in week days i will sleep only for 5 hours in week days and if its a holiday to my college i will get up only at 11 in the morning and thus i will sleep for about 10 hours a day . i feel that i wont get enough sleep in the weekdays .

you are so right! we need to get enough sleep because it reflects on our health. but sadly to say, i only get atleast 5 hours daily and i hate it. but i think, for me to change my sleeping habit, i need to lessen my working hours online. which i think is difficult to do.

As an architecture student, I rarely sleep 8 hours a day, especially if we have tons of deadlines. With our recent schedule, our classes starts from 4pm to 9pm. When I got home, I do my plates at once just to finish it before the deadline, this results to not sleeping the whole night. If ever I feel my eyes closing I take a power nap, a 30mins to 1hr sleep, then I resume my work. After the deadline, this is the perfect timing to recover our sleep but it is not just an 8 hours sleep, its somewhat 11 or more hours. :))

well i would have to say that it varies for me from one day to the next and it depends on a lot of different things to how much sleep i get in a particular day.
It would depend on how easily i was able to fall asleep on a given day or how much activity i had on a particular day as to how easily i could fall asleep on that particular day.
Some days i can get a decent amount of sleep, but I've always been a person that doesn't sleep for long periods of time a couple hours here a few hours there and that can depend on a lot of things as to why that happens, and I'm not really sure why it is maybe I am just a light sleeper and little things will disturb me while i sleep not really sure, but on the days where i get a decent amount of rest i know i do feel more active, and have a little more energy to get things done for that particular day and on days where i don't get as much rest as i would like to i know that i will feel more tired when it gets to the end of the day.
Today is a day where i still have a lot of energy so i have the feeling tonight will be one of those nights where it will be hard to fall asleep, but you have to try no matter what or you can really throw off your sleeping cycle and that wouldn't be too good.
I usually try to go to sleep around the same time everyday and some days it seems to be easier then others to fall asleep so i hope i will be able to get some rest tonight and get an early start on tomorrow.

During weekdays I only get 4 hours. Things to do at home never end, so it is usually past midnight when I finally get my back onto the bed. And then I have to wake up at 5 am again to get ready for work. Of course I suffer and get really sleepy everyday at work, specially after lunch.
I try to make up by sleeping in on Saturdays. Sleeping in means waking up at 7 o'clock.

Hello there, Good day to you.
I sleep very little hours a day, like 5 - 6 hours a day because I sleep really late at night and wake up at 8 the most. I'm kinda used to it though so I guess my body is also getting used to it. Sometimes if I get really tired, I take naps in the afternoon to make up for the times I needed to sleep.
It never really bothered me about health issues, and now that you mentioned it, I guess I'm having trouble losing weight, I mean compared before. I'm not fat but normally if I don't eat much and sleep late, I see results in 2 weeks but now, no weight loss at all. it could be that my body already adapted to this kind of lifestyle.
