I want to buy a dvd player and i've seen that most of them can play dvix files. Ok. Every movie i've searched on interbet was xvid and when i wanted to download it i saw it was .avi... i don't understand. So... a player that can play dvix can also play .avi ?

Yes a player that which can play divx and xvid , those are compatible with avi.

but it only says that it can play dvix? it says nothing about xvid. if it can play dvix it means that it can play xvid too?

they player that play xvid that can play divx. but the player that can play divx may not play xvid.

Avi is just a container file, it can be in divx, xvid, or mp4 format. Most players that can play divx can also play xvid and mp4 files. Just to be sure save a short clip of divx and xvid video in your usb flash drive and then test it out in the store if it plays.

Hi andu, I have a dvix player in my house and I can play the .avi format/movies. But just in case that the movie can not been played, you can download a converter to change the .avi to any format you want. You can try Any Video Converter or Total Video Converter.
