Hello MyLotters! I finally have received the card reader I have purchased from ebay on 27th of December last year. It receives almost 3 months later, which i think it is too much :) So have you ever purchased something online and can you give me some tips about it?

Well, 3 months is a huge time! Did you purchase it from USA?
I've purchased a couple of items from United States on eBay and the longest shipping time I had to wait for was like 3 or 4 weeks. However, the last time I ordered a product from there I managed to receive it in like 8 or 9 days after it was shipped.
Perhaps the seller you purchased your card reader from didn't care to ship your item quickly enough?
All I can recommend when shopping on eBay is to look for the best price, cause you can get some items for a really good price there, and to check the rating of the seller. You can find out if the seller ships his/her items quickly and correctly.

hi! yes, it is really a long period. no, i have purchased it from Hong kong, but the seller told me it must take not more than 25 days, but it took much more. well, 3-4 weeks are acceptable, 8-9 days are something perfect, but till now i have purchased only this item. hope the next time won't have some problems :)
the seller told me, he has sent it 2 days after i have sent him the money, but really don't know what happened :)

I have bought quite a few things from eBay, paid with PayPal and received my goods in reasonable time. I have also ordered items from an online catelogue which were paid for with a credit card and were sent quickly. It is best to use a credit card when buying online, that way you have the back up of the card company if something goes wrong.

I think 3 months is a completely unacceptable,
you should have a talk with the seller about the delay.
IF you are not satisfied with the service you should also post a negative feed back for the seller on the online site so that other know about your experiences.

I have shopped online several times and it is so much fun. I only shop online when I can't find the item I am looking for in my area or country. What I did was looked for trustworthy online shops and weigh which one has the better prices and services.
I'd like to share my experience about two shops. Let's say one is "Shop A" and the other is "Shop B". For example, I like an item and searched for it on both shops. In shop A, it costs 45 dollars while in Shop B, it would cost 40 dollars. However, Shop A has a free shipping service for item(s) with a total price of 39 dollars. Shop B on the other hand has no free shipping feature. The least price for their shipping would be, for example, 6 dollars. In total, the item plus the shipping on Shop B would be 46. I'd save a dollar if I buy at Shop A even if the item itself costs more. I would only buy from Shop B if Shop B has an item I like but can't find on Shop A. By the way, the shipping method for both is the same so they would arrive around the same time. Their shipping method is both standard shipping and would take around 3 weeks the least because both shops are from countries near mine. On your case, I think 3 months is a very very long time. I can wait until a month and a half but 3 months, no.
My tip is search the item from trusted shops. See if they have similar services as "Shop A". Don't just check the price but also the shipping prices and methods. Check the prices for "per shipment" and "per item" if available. Aside from the payment for the shipping itself, there are additional charges per item depending on their weight.
Also, see which one has the most convenient and cheapest payment method. As for eBay, always check the seller's rating and pay attention to the seller's feedback. Even though a seller has high ratings, some feedback may reveal really important things about the seller and how he/she transacts business. Other feedbacks would mention "fast shipping," "smooth transaction," "kind seller," "fast communication," and so on.
I hope these tips help. Have fun with online shopping!

So sorry for that lengthy post...and this one. I usually tend to say a lot of things I'm glad to be of help. ;)
Oh yes, that too. I didn't realize it earlier. It's better to buy online if it's cheaper. I'll keep that in mind next time and maybe save me some bucks. I see. The problem was from the post office. I think my transactions were faster even though they were standard shipping methods because the countries I ordered them from were neighboring countries. I'm from the Philippines and bought some stuff from Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, and Japan. I hope the same thing does not happen to you again. Express shipping is great...but is expensive Speaking of express shipping, there are times when express shipping would actually be cheaper than standard shipping. This usually is the case for small packages...although I forgot the reason why. You can check out the price difference from the shop/eBay seller first if available.
I usually buy Asian/Western DVDs and CDs. The shop I usually buy from is at YesAsia.com because of their vast item selection. The shop has been around for almost (or more, I think) a decade. Aside from those, they also sell books, games, electronics, posters and some toys. The service and shipping is great and I have been shopping there since 2005. I'm planning to buy more stuff this April. On another note, their shop is from Hong Kong so the shipping may take as long. But since it's an actual shop, maybe the shipping will be shorter. I also buy some stuff from CDJapan.co.jp but the items they sell are all Japanese. I browse there for Japanese audios and videos. The rest of my purchases are from eBay too.
I hope you find the stuff you like and need there. Have a great day! =)

wow! what a long explanation :) I like it
well, I have bought this thing, not because I can't find it in my area, but jsut because it was much cheaper than it is here :)
Yes, I have searched a lot, the seller was TOP RATED, which I know is really good and the positive feed back was 99%. but I actually think the problem was in the post service of my or his country. hope it will not happen again :)
btw, can you tell me some other site like ebay, i know only ebay.
yes, your tips are very helpful to me. thank you very much!!!

It really depends on the seller on how fast or slow they can send the item to you. I know that mail coming from the US is slow, my mother's Christmas cards arrived in February from a friend in NY, and my brother sent something for her and it took two weeks. But three months is too long. Have you ever asked the seller why it took the item too long to ship? If its from ebay, unless the seller specifies the time frame for the shipment, you can report the seller to ebay. Three months is too much waiting time. I have already purchased something on ebay, took me just a few days, but that is because the seller is also from the Philippines.

Yes, I have purchased several items via eBay. I can say I've received them quite quickly, all the orders reached me no later than in two weeks. I think when shopping on eBay you should check the reputation of the seller. Check the percentage of positive feedback, and if it's close to 100%, you can be sure you don't get fooled and will receive your items in short time.
@phoenix8606 (4942)

hi! well, his reputation/ feedback was 98% which I think it was really good, but as I told maybe he really hasn't got any fault, maybe the delay is through the post service fault! he told me that I have to receive it in max. 25 days so that's why i really think he has no fault. do you know some other sites like ebay?

I have purchased online many times. When I buy from ebay, I always try first to check the seller feedback, as it's important to know if you can trust that person or if you can be scammed. Also, as the internet is very wide, I try to look for the article I want in different places, as you can always find it cheaper. I hope it heps

hi! yes, i know the feedback is a factor to see how trusted the seller is, but his feedback was and I see is still 98% which is really high! that's why Ithought there will be no problems. And about the price, it was the smallest price i could find :)

Looks like you have already baught something online. I do everything online as it is right now. Including paying bills. But, without knowing what advice you are looking for I don't know what to give. The only pice i can offer is make sure you are using a secure line (look for a lock on the browser somewhere) when conducting online purches.

One thing to do when buying online is to find a best price. One way I do it is to look for the item I want to buy them go to a coupons website to see if I can get any sort of discount. I bought my daughter a small camcorder for christmas and I got free postage as well as an upgrade on the SD card and 10% off.

Best price - ofc, but still i`m usually looking for well known and well established sites. New internet shops can be tricky or even risky.

hi Beauty! yes, finding the best and most proper price of the product is really very important and that's the first thing I take in consideration, because I actually don't have much money to spend on online shopping :) but I really don't know what coupons are- i have heard about it, but never actually knew what it is!
well Dingdang doodle- price is on first place as I see :) yes, the established sites are important too, if you want to get what you paid for :)

I think you mean here buying thru ebay (bec you mentioned your ebay card)... well, i do purchase many things online and ebay is one of my favorite sites. In ebay, you have to make sure you pay using PaypaL! It is quicker and be confident to get your money back when the item does not reach you~ there are a number of advantages when using paypal. Its actually the safest way to pay.
When you'll shop online on websites, make sure you read their policies and conditions for the purchase, etc... Most sites accept paypal payments too - so make use of it.
Finally, surf for discount codes! Most Online shops offer discounts for online purchases. It can really save alot!

Hi! yes, I have bought it from ebay, because I actually don't know any other online shopping sites like it, so popular and so trusted. yes, it is really safer and I like it, but my item has arrived too late.
yep, i have read all the policies and conditions, even the seller told me, that it takes only 25 days to receive it, but.... it took 3 months :)
thanks for the info!!!

I think that when buying things online you should always ask how long it will take to get delivered to you aswell as check the cost of postage aswell as some people find that with the postage it works out sometimes cheaper to get it from the shop.I think that there are alot of good things that you can buy off the internet the same as alot of things that are cheaper to get from the shop.If you buy from ebay check to see the persons rating aswell as all the positive and negatives on them selling things.
@phoenix8606 (4942)
•
7 Mar 10
hi! The part with the delivering is really very relative, because the seller who sold me the card reader told me it must be here after about 25 days, but it took it twice even almost three times more to receive it but maybe the problem is in the post services of both or at least of my country
I haven't paid anything for the shipping- it was free. I only paid $1.29 for the product :)and the seller was and still is one of the TOP RATED SELLER :)
thanks for the useful information Jugsjugs

well i guess you had a bad experience then, unless the package is from other country then it really takes months to deliver but if its just within your country then 3 to 5 days is already enough, 7 days is already too much. i used to shop in ebay before and if i sent my payment today i will expect my package 2 days from now. also one thing, dont hesitate to ask question to the seller specially if you have doubt in the product.

Hi! yes, I have purchased it from HOng Kong, which is really too far, but it has arrived w by the air mail, which means it's got to be a little bit faster, but.. :(
yes, I ask all the time, but till now I have bought only one product from international sites like ebay. I usually buy from local sites in my country! thank you!

Hi phoenix8606, did the seller told you that it will take such a long time?
The only reason I could have think of that will take such a long time to reach is because they opted for sea shipping rather than air shipping (well, cost wise, it saves up a lot but time wise, it will be like a long long time to reach.
I am not sure whether what you can do other than giving them a bad rating which is still not going to make things any better but can let other interested buyers know about their shipment time.
Because you did received the item and thus, I don't think you can't file a report with ebay (Actually, I don't even think you can even if you never received the item because there is a time limit but I am not very sure how long after the auction ends)

hi! no, he told me it takes max. 25 days. btw i was sent by the air mail, because on the package i have received there is a stamp "by air mail", which I think means, that it was delivered by air, right?
well, yes I know I can do that, but I actually don't know if the problem is from the seller or from the mail service, because of the seller doesn't have any fault I don't want to harm him!
btw thanks for the information!!!

hi phoenix8606. ,
purchasing online are fun and convenient. Before start buying ,i do some survey on several websites on the item i am looking for.Usually i compare the price of the item and its shipping charges. Some offer free shipping while others not which can make some difference,i guess.
Before commit to buy it from a certain seller ,i email them to inquire about the item's condition and shipping charges.Usually i ask several questions to get to know about the seller and its product.
