Remember When You Were First On My Lot?

I just wanted to ask mostly to the vets this question. In the past few days I have seem some negative comments by vets about the rookies on here. I wanted to know if you remember how excited you were when you first came on here. Yes the new people don't know every rule and sometimes they are asking things that can be found in the FAQ section of my lot. I think they are just happy to be here and start discussions they ask us thinking this is their best place to ask a question. For the most part the vets are very nice and helpful. A very small group of you complain that they have to keep telling the new people about rules and how they may lose credit or get their discussion deleted by answering this discussion. You don't have to answer it first of all. Second just tell them in a nice and polite way sorry I can't answer this question it is against the rules please look in the FAQ section and you will find the answer there. Also some vets complain how the new people keep asking similiar discussions and they are not high quality discussions.I have also found vets start similiar discussions as well. Again this site to me is more of a social network than making money. I enjoy deep discussions I also enjoy fun and light discussions. I feel the new people are just trying to fit in and let's just be welcoming to them and stop complaining about it. The more they are on here they will improve. I am sure a lot of you went through the same thing. Everyone makes mistakes just help them and make them feel welcome. That's it and thanks for letting me get this off my chest it was just bothering me. Peace to you all.

hi! i've been on here for some time and definitely i was a newbie once and i remembered being very excited to participate in discussions as well as earning my first mylot milestones... like my first BR, first 100 posts and mylot reputation/ star, reaching 500 posts and reaching 1000 posts. i may not be as active as other veterans here because i don't spend as much time in the discussions.
your discussion here is kind of a reminder for all of us to be nicer and more accommodating to one another especially for newbies. yes, sometimes some mylotters can be quite blunt when they can rephrase their message in a nicer way so as not to discourage newbies from asking, learning and enjoying in the site. this got me into thinking how i am with newbies in the site... because sometimes, when we have been here for so long we tend to forget how we were when we were just starting out.
i guess i was more fortunate back when i was a newbie. everyone was so welcoming and friendly back then... vets were very helpful especially in providing tips on how to have quality posts and earning better in the site. (it was just close to 100 thousand members that time. and now the population has doubled.) i had hoped that i have shared as much as i have learned over time.
these days, i only get to do a few posts every now and then... just enjoying spending time in the site. i guess i am of those you have mentioned who avoid discussions that have been repeated several times or could probably be deleted. when i see some mylotters have already responded to newbie questions regarding mylot... rather than give my own response, i move on to other discussions. now i realize i could have been more helpful still. but i figured others have been helpful in their responses already so i need not add mine anymore.
oh well, let's just hope everyone keeps a friendly atmosphere around here. hehe coz i tell you, i had a few brushes with a very few vets also... who are not as nice. good thing they are only a few. but i think they also meant well. hehe i think.
have a peaceful mylotting!

when you've been here longer... you'll find a few others too. when a new mylotter happens to be in my list i try to send PMs if they have more questions because there are some elements in a topic that is deemed a violation when posted (especially in mylot and making extra money interests).

Yeah sometimes we forget to look. I am trying to get in the habit if I have a my lot question look at the faq first if I don't see it then ask in the my lot interest. I think that may also be confusing to new people they see it and are most likely thinking they can ask anything there.

No it's not a lot that do it. There was lotter who responded to a new person as don't you read the rules. It was just very rude as the vet just went on and on about it. It just made me want to reach out and say hey you were new once give them a break. I have only been here for 5 months but I kinda look after the rookies who came after me. I want them to have the same positive experience that I have been having.

Hi snoopyfan,
I´m very sorry that you have had this reception from some mylotters. But please don´t think that everyone is the ssame. That is not true at mylot nor in any place in the world. There are nice people everywhere: you´ll find them here.
I just came back from a stay of 3 days at the hospital (shoulder surgery). I was moved with all the mylotters that wrote with good wishes, prayers and positive energy. As you see, there are diferent ways of saying it, but the good will is there.
I would suggest you not to mind the complaining people. Youll be playing their game if you do. Mylot has rules, as it should, and everyone of us have had posts deleted at the begining (and sometimes when we should have known better). That is ok, it´s nothing against anyone, it´s not something personal.
Just learn to find your own friends and enjoy. WELCOME!!!

Thanks I know I am lowering myself when I respond to their mean comments. For the most part I have had a good experience here. In fact a few days ago I asked a lot of people for some help regarding another lotter who needs a lot of support. They came through and are helping this person who was thinking about harming themselves. I am a little sensitive when people on here bash my faith and my God. I do respect people's views as long as they can express them without the insults. I have been able to have different views with adults who are respectful and not bash me for my views. I am also staying away from those people as much as I can. You are right 99% of the people here are very kind and helpful. I am not going any where.
God Bless

Well i do not remember the first time i was on mylot as it was quite some time ago at that time i was joining it a means to earn money but was never quite online enough to make money after that i left coming to this site for a 2 years i think.
In that time i had done many diffrent sites but not tried forums so i decided to become active out here on mylot.
And once i started here renewed it has been quite some time now...
I have been posting quite frequently now.

I was very excited to find mylot. I found it by accident one day I think while looking for blogs. I don't have many friends, and this is a great way to connect with people. It is also nice that it's a way to make some change to buy a soda with or maybe a gallon of soy milk, not much more than that-LOL! I don't newby bash, because we all were new, once.

I am happy to say I don't see it a lot. Just the last few discussions I looked at I was seeing some negative comments and it had me thinking. 99% of the lotters here are very helpful and polite. I would just like people who do get frustrated to stop take a breath and then type their response.

i was referred here by a friend of mine and if i had any questions about stuff on the site i would just ask her.
I remember when i first joined up there was so many different things to look at all of the interests and everything like that and so many discussions to look through and it took me awhile before i was used to everything myself.
I think all you can do is learn by doing especially on here and we all make a few mistakes and we learn from them and we move on and we try to do better.
I have no problem helping someone new out if they have a question.
I know that i don't know everything about the site since i haven't been here any tremendous length of time, but i know enough that i could help out someone new if they have a basic question and some people would rather just ask others then to look in up in the frequently asked questions section of the site and there is nothing wrong with being nice and helping out someone new, since that is what it is all about participation and if you want participation in your discussions it is always helpful to be nice to others and they may reward you in the same manner.
I've always thought of what we earn as a nice bonus and the main thing is to exchange opinions and to get views of others and see what everyone thinks about certain topics.
It's always nice to get others opinions and views on certain things even if it differs from your point of view and it can be a nice exchange of ideas.
As long as someone is nice to me i will always be nice to them in return and i think that is the best way to be the whole do unto others as you would want done on to you.

You are welcome. I don't give them a lot not because I don't think people give great answers. I had someone tell me not to cause I won't get a lot of responses if I say one person had the best response. As you can guess that wasn't the person I marked. I am a little cautious about it. I don't want people getting upset.

I enjoy the thoughts and words of wisdom and leanings from my lot. To me the money is a bonus. I am fairly new here as well and some of the post about newbies are offensive but that is how we learn and grow as a online community. I think there should be less negativity. If someone can't find something better to post about then they should just respond to others postings.

Yes that is why I started this discussion because of those negative comments. It is easy to forget that at one time everyone started out not knowing everything here. I agree if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. You can tell someone in a nice tone and help them. I have also seen vets tell the rookies in a kind and helpful way.

i am new also here. and have read some rude comments from vets mylotters. we cannot escape from reality that there are some people who just want to annoy other mylotters. they don't have a positive virtue which could help newcomers like myself. they tend to discouraged these new members to express themselves. well, to these rude people, if you dont like the discussion, just ignore it and don't comment on the issue/discussion. we have all the freedom to express here as long as it is abiding the rules here in mylotting. i find the discussion here very enriching and encouraging to other mylotters. so to those veteran people of mylotter help us new comers here and dont "push us" that we tend not participate in the discussion anymore. we need your encouragement and wise advices. have a peaceful weekdays ahead of us.
