What AI would be without Simon?

Hi, MyLotters! I'm an avid viewer of American Idol and I'll admit it, one the reason why I watch American Idol is Simon Cowell. Unfortunately, it is his last season in Idol. While watching the replay of AI this afternoon, I realized American Idol would be very different without Simon Cowell. I admire his straight to the point and sometimes harsh comments to the contestants. No matter how harsh or terrible his comments are, at the end of the day the contestants find them true and they admire him for that. How do you see AI without Simon? Who do you think can replace him?

I don't think it will be the same without Simon....Honestly the things he says to them is nothing compared to what the real world in entertainment has in store.... I watched The View the other day and Valerie Bertanali was guest host and we know she used to be married to Eddie Van Halen and she says he is just giving a dose of what it really is out there in the real world..... He said it best when he said the other night Do you want me to lie to them? I am trying to help them to know what they are going up against..... So I don't think he says them things to hurt but sometimes if you say hurtful things before you give the things that can be worked on it gets there attention.....

Exactly he doesn't treat these kids with kid gloves. He talks to them just like he would talk to any potential music talent. He is looking for someone who could have a long career and not just be a one-hit wonder.

I agree, Randy is quite forgotten, because though he is honest, he just isn't as humorous. Paula was just annoying, and Simon was the reason for tuning in. He was attractive and he makes the show have that little extra something.

Yeah, you're right. The show needs some spice for it to be watched. Last time, the three judges were telling the same comments, it was Simon who made the final judgment all the time. If he was not in the show maybe all the contestant would believe that all they did were right.

What?! Simon is leaving the show?! Oh my...
Well, now it is very much noticeable that I am not really a fan of American Idol but I do drop by sometimes and its because of Simon's comments on each contestants.
Who will replace Simon then? Will his replacement be as witty yet constructive in giving remarks as Simon can?

It's going to be extremely difficult to replace Simon. Not to put the other judges down, but Simon IS American Idol. I admire Simon for his "directness". I can't even think of someone who'll be able to replace Simon, but then I don't know the music industry that well either, so... It'll be interesting to see.

I must admit that Simon Cowell is one of the reasons why I am watching American Idol every wednesdays and thursdays.. I love him for being honest and straightforward. When he doesn't like the performance, he tells the person right away (straight to the point).. the harsh comments are helpful to make the american idol contestant do better on his/her next performance and they are funny in some way.. :) i don't want to see Simon Cowell leave the show. I am going to miss him for sure.. And yes, No one could ever replace Simon Cowell. Simon Cowell is Simon Cowell...

I don't see the show going on without Simon Cowell. It just won't be the same at all. I'm watching it now mainly because of both Simon and Ellen. I believe there really isn't anyone that could replace Simon Cowell unless they brought in maybe Elton John. The possiblity of that happening is very unlikely. I really can't think of anyone else that could keep the show going for a few more years. So I really see it ending with this season.

I love Simon, he is not only brutally honest, but he can be really funny as well. I agree with you that it's really not the same without him. I mean, it's weird, and I'm sure people would always be looking for that brutally honest comments and sarcastic facial expressions. Hehehe.
I hope the one who'll be replacing him can fill his shoes, cause I love American Idol, and I don't want it to fail because of Simon's exit from the show.

It is going to be difficult to find a replacement for Simon, more difficult than it was to get over the absence of Paula. But you know what, AI has such a great format that I think it actually could survive without Simon. Still, people will look for a personality as sharp as his, and someone who is a great star maker as he is.

No one can replace Simon! I have watched Idol since day one and only because of Simon. I am going to miss him on there. The only good thing is he is going to be doing The X Factor coming to the US and will be on Fox. Same station that has Idol. I wouldn't be surprised if Idol will be following X Factor so they can get Simon's ratings. Simon is the only one on there who tells the truth. He has been very successful in the music business long before Idol ever hit the air. I often agree with his comments. He is only saying what we are saying at home. At times I also think he is rough on them because he wants to challenge the kids for them to do their very best each and every week. You can see it on the kids face when Simon likes their performance they know they did a great job. I will be looking forward to his new show and he will have my full support.

I agree for sure. I love Simon Cowell and really not sure if I would watch AI if he is not on. He is an honest judge, maybe brutal, but hey you take the chance when you go into it. Randy has gotten on my nerves with "yo dawg, listen, listen" that gets old!I really do not think there is anyone that could replace Simon, so honestly not sure if I will continue to watch next year.
