Last night, my bf comes in with 2 pitbull puppies and said, " you are gonna have to take care of these puppies. I peered inside the box to see two squirmy little puppies with their eyes barely open. They are absolutely darling but they've only been here one night and they are driving me nutty. All they do is whine! I have fed them every 3 hours, which is really tought to do when they are so small, but they still whine. Maybe it's because they miss their mother. Do you think so? I try to remain calm as they whine all day and most of the night last night. Keep in mind, I do not have any kids so the waking up in the middle of the night for feeding is all new to me. Maybe this will prove to be a rewarding experience for me. I wonder, is there anything that I can do to make them more confortable and less whiny? Any suggestions?

I agree with all the responders, they are too young to be away from the mother already, you may have some problems down the road, hopefully not but they need the time with their mom until at least 8 weeks of age, I know sometimes reasons occur that they can not be with the mother but guess what there will be a lot of crying they are puppies, and if they can not eat on their own you are the mother now. Good luck.

I really don't know what the situation was why they are so young away from their mother. The mother was in bad shape or something ..my bf told me not to get attached because we're only raising them until they are a couple of months older then he wants to sell them. I think I'm doing a pretty good job of feeding them with these little bottles..although I think that they would rather have a bottle with a bigger nipple on it.. We may have to get real baby bottles. I just fed them..they were whining for a bit now they have quited down. How sweet. I'm a mama. :)

You are doing a good thing Carmen, but how sad you are going to be their mom for awhile and then you will no longer have them, Please make sure the puppies are moving their bowels and such, if not you may also have to help with that, I will get into that if it comes down to it. LOL good luck and I am sure you are being a real good temporary mommy!
