Before I just let them do it, yes just like trampling on a welcome sign. I soon got tired. I had depression, anxiety because of it. I still do, and a lot have noticed that I have changed.
I started putting a line, whenever I feel wronged I'd speak up, fight for myself. For years, I avoided seeing some of my family members. But now, I don't have to. At least they now know how to respect me.
I still have my respect and love for them just the same, the difference is that I let them know now when the are hurting me.

I have often thought I should be wearing a jumper that looks just like a welcome mat. My mother, in particular, has always run me down and never encouraged me. She has made my life hell for years and now I have reached the end of the line. I won't let her treat me badly ever again. I feel that I should have put a stop to it years ago but she is still my mother and I am her daughter.
