Shutter Island - What did you think? (No Spoilers)

Last night I received an invite to the movies to see the film Shutter Island. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and directed by Martin Scorsese. I had seen the trailer for it and thought it looked interesting, but as this is not the type of film that I normally watch, I was undecided about whether I wanted to see it or not.
I decided to go to the cinema last night and I thought the movie was absolutely brilliant. How people come up with these storylines is beyond me!
It was an at times very disturbing journey and I was impressed by the performances of all of the actors in the film. I thought that Leonardo DiCaprio did a fantastic job in the lead role and that the part was well suited to him. I did however leave the cinema in a state of confusion over the ending. Just when I thought that I was following the movie and had it all worked out in my head, everything was turned upside down in my mind.
Have you seen the film?
What did you think?
(Please do not give away anything particular about it that might ruin it for those who have not seen it yet)

I like the film, the performances are strong and well directed, and the history is brillant.
I like all the actors that are in this film because they have done other goods films that i liked very much.
i think Martin Scorcese is the most influencial movie directors at the present time, i don't know how the film haven't the sucess it deserves.
Some scenes remind me some Hitchcock films.
It is a film to see more than one time.

I agree that the performances are very strong. I could not fault much in the film. I am not really that familiar with Scorsese's other work, but I do know of his films and I am keen to see them now.
There are some similarities to Hitchcock. Martin Scorsese was obviously influenced by him as many movie makers have been over the years.

I have seen it yesterday and at first it looked like a good movie but i got lost in the story. And didn't really like the end. it was to complicated for me to enjoy it a lot but i guess it could be worse. Watch harry brown if you want it's a good movie. Have a great day

I thought I had the plot figured out, but I was not quite there. It took a few turns that I did not see coming!

Glad I was not the only one confused. I spoke to my friend that saw it with me this morning and he said he had very strange dreams during the night after watching it!
I would like to see it again too and would also like to read the book as there is always more detail in the book.

I saw this movie twice, not because it was that great that I wanted to, but I went quite willingly with another group of friends. DiCaprio's work has been quite impressive recently and ever since I saw "Blood Diamond" I knew that I would likely see almost any moive he is in. This movie keeps you on edge for the entire film and continues to throw curveballs at you, up until the very last line! If you see it twice, the movie does make a little more sense if you were at all confused or in disbelief of the plot. Seeing it the second time made all of the comments make a bit more sense and really shows the depth of the film and the quality of the acting from all parties.

I think that it is definitely a movie that is worth seeing at least twice. At the end I thought straight away that I needed to see it again. I think I would pick up a lot more the second time around. I saw it late at night after a very long and hard day too, which did not make it easy for me to understand some of what was happening.
