hi. i guess many of us are not aware of our rigths as a consumer, citizen, employee, wife/husband,child,woman etc. most of the time we tend to overlook the matters and try to forget them. personally, i feel embarassed to admit that i never take stand in any situation. i will whine for some time and just try to forget the issue. specially, where i spend my hard earn money to buy some expensive thing and before its gurantee period,it gives up.and i hate to make rounds to either exchange it or to get money back!so i just let it go! do you stand for rights or ignore the issues?

Well i do stand up for my right, there is no reason to let go of ones rights. although sometimes just standing up for them doest do the trick.. I am quite stubborn in these issues so i continue to harrass them untill i get what i deserve.

After my visit to Australia last year, I have started to be more aware and fight for my rights. In my country we are still in the initial stages when it comes to consumer rights and protection. I think we should be more wary of our rights and do stand for ourselves when our rights are not respected.

Very Good Discussion Question! I stand up for my rights sometimes.. It is easier to just let it go.. But if we all just back down all of the time, and not stand up for our rights, one day they will be gone. This country has changed a lot over its life time.. I would have to say in the last 10 years our rights have been slowly taken away... Due to national security, yes it is important for us as a country to stay safe, but to what extend? I would hate to see this country go all the way back to the way it was in England... Then what our forefathers fought for was all in vain.. Many wasted lives... If we do not take a stand, the Constitution might as well be used for toilet paper.. Not everything is worth taking a stand, somethings are very small.. Choosing your battles is the best way to go.. Too many victims wind up inprisioned, and to many guilty parties roam free.. This needs to change.. How? Each person take a stand for what is right, even if it is only for one thing in their life..

hello ksmita, I want to be particular with rights... As a consumer...i always stands for my right. Sometimes costumers had to complain,by doing this, the owner of producers will know what to improve with their products or services. As a wife, yah,it is a must to stand for my right. Not for being a wife itself, but as a woman and human in all aspects. There are always good reason to fight for our rights...and fighting for our right will also help us to become a better person and a stronger one. It will help us to bring out the best in ourselves.

yes, becoming irritated is the last thing on my list. i would tell not in a manner of confrontation because somehow, we can assess whether we could have a good approach or not with the person. last time when i bought a blouse from one of known boutiques in the mall, i suddenly realized that i wouldn't be needing it so after reasonable period of days, i returned it and asked for the refund. at first, the staff merely suggested for a change of item. when they saw that i was not interested, the manager approached me and asked if perhaps she could issue a gift certificate instead, valid for one year. i was determined to get the refund and showed them no interest in any offer they made. then i finally got it! there are some cases that i usually stand to what i think was right, not just with this type of scenario. so far, this is the recent. but i still believe that sometimes, i should know when to shut up. :)

as you say, our rights, both as human beings and as citizens, have been regulated and protected by law. So no reason for others to violate our rights .. in law, there are terms, anyone who violates the rights of others and cause harm to it, it must for those who violate these rights to indemnify

It depends on which rights we stand for, if its valuable fight or stand for it then of course i will not let it go..But if just a simple rights then i let it pass through me.As i don't want to use my time for unnecessary matters which make no sense at the end. Individual has to stand in his right to established how his right should be treated. But rights should be determined and classified. Happy myLotting!
