What wakes up first?

Now, I'm not a morning person.
When I had a full time job, I would wake up and if I wasn't hurting/feeling too bad, I'd be a work before the rest of the body woke up. I knew if I felt terrible when I climbed out of bed, I was JUST going to feel that much worse later and should climb right back in.
I'm also not real verbal in the morning.
When Maggiepie and I were roommates she'd get so mad at me because she'd be holding up both ends of a conversation in the morning. No matter how many times I told her that while the body and brain were functioning, they weren't really communicating yet.
Yet, somehow, that doesn't seem to stop my ability to write first thing in the morning. Or at least TYPE first thing...
So, when you first get up, do you have this general disconnect that I seem to have? or are you like Maggie, the first thing to wake up is the mouth?

SOunds like you need some pain management to get this under control.
I find that if I dont feel good at getting up time I will get better during the day I dont hurt so I dont know what you are going thru.
But like you I never went home from work not even if I did hurt which I didnt and Last job I had 16 hours work days sometimes getting the order out!

I kid you not, if I hurt as bad as I do later in the day, I wouldn't be getting up most days. It is only because I don't hurt as bad at the first of the day, just because I don't feel too much of anything, that I can get thru most of my days.
If I'm AT work, I have to feel really, REALLY bad to go home...

I can do things by rote, the first few times are hard, but after that it gets easier.
like making breakfast, back in early June, it was a whole big deal, now I just grab my stuff and make it while other stuff is going on
tomorrow I have to fix cauliflower if I don't get it done tonight (and it doesn't look like it will)

I'm not much of a morning person either hun. I find I can't function in the mornings, at least until I have had the first coffee of the day. My other half is just as bad, you can imagine the attempts at conversation in our house, as we are both struggling to wake up, get up and start the day

I'm not a morning person, either. I hurt a lot when I get up and it takes a couple of hours for my joints and muscles to work out the soreness of sleeping. When I was raising my children I would act cheerful but I really didn't feel that way--mornings are not my best times.

It's a rare gift when your hands wake up before the rest of you. That sought-after talent enables you to get through the drudgery of at least part of the day before really waking up. This comes in especially handy when working outside of the home. Of course the downside is that your hands go to sleep before the rest of you in the evening. This is a big plus for establishments like McDonald's, Little Ceasars and Taco Bell, not to mention the biggest television networks. Children and pets frequently create havoc with that particular talent, but fortunately it seems easy to resume on Mondays.

well, the cats are pretty good, since they mostly are just happy to see we survived another night and the dogs are glad to get outside - at least for a few minutes
Actually, the body can keep going after the brain is ready to cut out for the night - if I'm tired, I can't mylot in the evenings - just can't think of a single thing to say...

I'm a morning person (she says at 2:10am not having been to bed yet). The critters get me up between 6 and 6:30 and I'm awake. Totally. But I would rather not talk to anyone at that time. I'll chat softly to the critters without any problem but don't let a human speak to me because I will resent having to speak to them...let me have my coffee first.
Not that there's ever anyone around in the morning these days but there has been in the past.

i don't know what it is,but people chewing my ear off when i first get up irritates me.
..the meows get away with it,but that's only because they don't have opposable thumbs to open their morning can LOL

I wake up very early in the morning and have no problem in getting up, but I am certainly not in the best of moods. Given a little time of peace and quiet, I soon come around and feel happy and contented, unless that is, something bad happens like bad news by telephone or letter. _Derek

No, there's no secret Joannaleed. I practice Zen medititation and that involves focusing and controlling the mind, and I guess through this I have learned that my mind is my servant and not my master - well some of the time! The number of hours I sleep seems to come under my control. _Derek

When I wake up, I too am not all that talkative, until I down a few cups of hot tea...then in order to "get my brain started", I do a little myLotting, then it's off to writing and composing music in my home studio.

Carrying a tune, IS musical.
Just think of all those famous singers out there who don't have a clue as to how to read music, let along be able to play an instrument.
Now, think of the company you are among!

I love waking up really early every morning before the sun comes up, in fact I am usually up and about by four a.m. which makes me very much a morning person! I love morning time very much but I admit the mouth doesn’t wake up at the same time as the rest of me and that must be why although I enjoy awaking extremely early I don’t like too much conversation too soon; I like to put my IPod on and do my chores while listening to my favourite music and it is not a good idea for anyone to talk to me until at least seven a.m.!

I don't like talking in the morning. I would rather just watch television, or read some emails. My mouth is the last to wake up for me. Even if I reach the office, I still won't be saying much in the morning. I usually just start talking during lunch. hehehe.

Hey friend,
I'm not also a morning person. I keep awakened till late night and get up late in the morning. But I don't need any alarm clock to wake me up. I depend on my biological clock which makes me alert. It's my brain who wakes up first. I think when the brain gets tired the whole body is tired and when it's alert the whole body is alert for work.
Have a nice day.

I need time in the mornings to myself
I always used to get up well before the Children, so I could have half an hour to wake up, I would then go in the shower and then wake the Kids up
Now I still need the time to wake up but yes I am able to come on here and write lol

LOL--from most of the responses here it looks like there are an awful lot of grumps when waking up...I'm the same way. I've never been one to leap out of bed with a song in my heart...it's more I drag myself out of bed..my first automatic stop is the kitchen even before going to the bathroom to give the kitties fresh food. I like it quiet with maybe the radio on real low to hear the weather/news and definitely have to have my cup of coffee to get the cobwebs out of my fuzzy brain. And nope never liked talking to someone when I'm trying to wake up either

No, I find I am so much like you. Actually, I dont wake up in the morning. Invariably I would start getting calls as early as 6 30 or by 7 in the morning. And finally I have to drag myself out from the bed.
I like it as quite as possible in the morning. I sleep late as late as maybe 2 or 3 in the morning. The work pressure is tremendous and it is the financial year end now. So waking up in the morning is the last thing I want to do.

My mouth and my nerves are definitely not the first things to wake up in the morning. In fact, if I really had my way about things upon waking up in the morning, I would be able to sit in silence with just myself and my computer for at least 30 minutes before there was anyone that wanted to talk to me. The reason for this is that I have to start to feel actually functional before I'm able to communicate in my day.

That would be great - tho I can, and often do a little talking, but as I said above, don't try and get anything of depth out of me... if I got up a bit earlier, I'd probably be functioning a bit better.
Fact is, that I used to only need an hour to get out the door, and can still manage that, since I've never been one for makeup...

I am a morning person and the second I wake up I am fully alert and raring to go but I do not like to talk till after I have had a bath and had my cup of tea.
I don't know how I got into this habit but I have been doing this for 25 + years now. No talking till after a bath...
