Do you believe schools should have the right to shorten certain classes?

I am faced with an issue in my school where they have an independent class where I do the work and basically do it without lectures etc. Anyway, the class should have went from January to May, but the Vice Principle decided, no, it has to be done the end of March. Which for the amount of work, is unreasonable when you take all the other classes into consideration.
So do you believe they should shorten independent study classes?

If the class was scheduled from January to May when you signed up then I would be questioning the Dean as to whay they are chaning it now. You may have choosen not to take that class if you had know of the short time frame and your other couses of study. Also, since it is an independent study class what difference does it make if the class last until May? The only thing that the professor has to do is grade the work that is submitted, it is not like he has to prepare two months of lectures.

I was given the class first Semester and it was supposed to span both semesters and I was to do it at home like homework. However due to my workload on the first semester, she said not to worry about it at all during my first semester and that I would have second semester to do the work. It wasn't until first semester started that she decided to change the due-date for the students. The other students got all of first semester, here I am only get these few months. It feels quiet wrong to me. I feel it should be extended to the end of school for me and the other students.

i think if its scheduled from january to may then should carry on till may and should not stop at the end of march . if they complete the syllabus then its not a problem but if they just skip and rush things to finish up the syllabus then it should not be done . but in my college also it happens . they will say that semester is from january to may but they will finish at the mid of april and then the exams will take place in may . .

I think they have. as when we send our child to study in school. we show the belief in them. and they organise the whole strucutre of the class and the timetable. it is there responsibility to maintain the quality and all. so they do this in different way. some time it is good and some time not. but if we try to alter their decisions they will not feel free to do any new things for improvement.
