I've been out of work for a whole entire year now.I've done everything I could think of to get a job. There are no jobs to apply for.I'm at the point that I can't do anything, just sit here and wait, and hope there will be a job to apply for.I have to say it's hard for me to find a job or get hired for a job at least.Do you find jobs easily?

Hi JAva! No, i don't find a job easily and I am even still searching for some part-time job for me, because I am a student and can't work on a regular one. maybe it is really hard because I need a part-time one, and the most employers offer regular jobs. but maybe the financial crisis has also something to do with it and I am pretty sure, that I must wait some more months to get a job :(

I hope you find something.I see more part time jobs in my area, than full time jobs. When one opens up,every one fights to get it,and I never get a call back after the interview. There usually is alot of people for the interview.

Most companies are saving in these periods where there is financial crisis, which makes it even harder to find a job unless you have the exact match to the person they are seeking to thier company. Im myself unemployed newly educated so i have to find a living by doing other things on the side. Im now studying the Dutch language to improve my CV as i do not speak it fluently. (Danish of native and moved to the Netherlands to be with my Dutch partner)

Exactly, and I have even been applying for jobs for which im overqualified but then im told i dont have enough experience. What is it they expect from newly educated people? That they have 25 years of experience in thier field?

I, too, have been out of work for more than a year. There are no jobs here that I can do. There are waitressing jobs and sales clerk jobs but I cannot stand for very long because of my spinal curvature, flat feet and arthritis. Have you tried temporary agencies? They don't have anything here but they might in your area.

I've only been unemployed for a couple of weeks. I need to get out and look for a job and I think my first stop is going to be as a waitress so that I can go to college as well. Waitressing jobs can be a bit more flexible in that you can pretty much work either mornings or nights, and if you can't then you get a friend to do it for you that works there as well. If I can't find a waitressing job then I guess I'll just mylot as much as I possibly can and try for something else.

I was laid off of work on Thursday. Before I was laid off my husband and I were consodering growing our family. Now that I am UI I'm thinking this may not be a good decision. We own a condo and his income can barely cover that alone not any other bills we're responsible for such as our car 257 and groceries. We don't have cable. I just got internet and phone 55/mo and our phone etc. Not major stuff but still. I hear its very hard to get a job and this is what's getting me concerned. I was laid off last year b/c the business closed down, I never got my last pay check but I was out of work for only 2 weeks. I barely saw my UI check come in for a week. This time around I feel may be harder then last. I'm hoping maybe to get a PT job in a retail type setting so that we can still start our family and me not have to pay for day care and such so I'm trying to look at this as a blessing in dusguise.

Hello fellow myLoter - I recently graduated from a four yeat college and was lucky enough to find a good job, but it was not easy. I think I must have sent out about 20-40 resumes before I finally found the one I am in. Before college, I had two jobs and both of them I found out through family connections. I have been very lucky and along the way I have seen others try just as hard and fall short. There are lots of places to look for employment, depending upon your credentials. If you have a bachelor's degree, you might send some resumes to various government positions, as there can be many positions that need filling with great job security. If you have a highschool diploma, try dropping resumes at local banks, grocery stores, the personals in the newspapers, stopping by any local factories and asking about employment. When it comes to jobs, it NEVER hurts to try the unexpected. Do not let the fear of rejection or awkward moments stop you from driving down the street and stopping at every place you could potentially work with resumes in hand and ask about employment opportunities. Good luck!

Where I live there isn't too many jobs. When something comes up ,it's like everyone fights over the job. It's crazy.I'll take anything to do for work that pays.I'll even work at fast food restaurant.I just need something to do.

I've been unemployed for what seems like forever. Most of the jobs I apply for are only looking for younger people, and at 58 years old the chances of me finding a job are very slim indeed.

I have to say I'm 40 and still can't find a job.I think it's very hard out there. But probably harder depending on age.I feel employers are too picky and they just don't seem to pick me.Don't feel so bad about yourself,to me every one can do things ,you're a valuable person.

No, I don't find jobs easily. I've applied to dozens upon dozens of places since I've started my job search back in the end of 2010 and only got hired by 2 so far. However, I can't really count one of them. Unfortunately, I quit the very first day as the employer there didn't like how it conflicted with my other job's schedule. They forced me to choose between the 2. As my current job pays a bit more and is closer to home I decided to stay on there. I'm still on the lookout for something better though and continue to search around and submit job applications whether places are hiring or not. Because you just never know what might turn up! Happy mylotting!
