The winners for this year's Oscars have been declared and awarded, winner honored, red carpet pictures filtered through media. Sad fact is the only Oscar-nominated or Oscar-winning movies I've watched are Avatar and Up, which I both find to be really excellent and deserving of their honors. I haven't really seen the others - Hurt Locker, Precious, Blind Side, etc - mostly because I havne't really had the time. But this weekend I'm planning on doing some internet movie-watching, and I'd like to ask you MyLotters which Oscar movies you've watched and what do you think about them?

i heard that in the dvd version of the movie there's an uncut scene which shows how the people of Pandora procreate. would like to see how they portray that :)

Of those nominated for best film, prior to the Oscar ceremonies I saw: Avatar, The Blind Side, District 9, Inglorious Basterds, Precious, Up and Up In the Air. Of course I didn't have time to see the winning film! lol. However, as a female, I was quite pleased that some accolades have finally been given to a female director. Whether or not she actually deserved it, I have yet to see for myself. I usually try to see all the films in the category of "Best Picture" before the Oscar's but because there were TEN nominees this year, it was nearly impossible! lol. I'm also planning on watching the remaining films in that category over this coming weekend. I thought Avatar was groundbreaking. I found The Blind Side quite heartwarming. District 9 was pretty amazing, once I got used to the "aliens". I didn't care much for Inglorious Basterds as I'm not a very big Tarantino fan and Brad Pitt's acting to me is like watching silly putty being bounced off a wall. Precious was difficult to watch and very sad. Mo'nique absolutely deserved her win. It's disturbing to see such reality in a movie and to know that there are actually people in the world like these portrayed in the film. Boring is how I'd qualify Up in the Air. That story has been done however, not in that way so that aspect was refreshing. I absolutely LOVED everything about Up! That's my take on the Best Picture category. Looking forward to reading others' thoughts

wow that's a lot of movies you've watched. i agree i didn't really 'get' up in the air. kind of funny to read someone describe brad pitt as 'silly putty being bounced off a wall'. i suddenly had a mental image of his 80-year-old self in the curious case of benjamin button. a friend gave me a copy of inglorious basterds more than a month ago but i still haven't had the urge to watch it.
district 9 was weird but the concept was refreshing. once the metaphor gets to you it gets a bit haunting.

Yesterday I saw Crazy Heart and A Single Man . Both were great! Jeff deserved his Oscar and Colin deserved to be nominated.

I have seen the avatar, up and the blind side. I loved all of them sreally. I think they are all good in their own way, and I cried while watching all of them actually. hehehe. I guess I cried the most in watching Up, cause it was really heartwarming. I also loved the Blind side, and Sandra Bullock really deserves her Best Actress win. Like you, in the weekend, I'm planning on watching Up in the air, precious and maybe the hurt locker.

Not all best Pic nominees has been released here, but I saw most of the movies in Bet Pics. I watched Up, Up In The Air, Hurt locker, Avatar, basterds, and about to watch District 9 on DVD (I missed that when I want to watch it at the cinema). I am really curious about An Education, it seems to be a simple but touching movie. I wonder when will it be released here..

I haven't seen any! But I am very proud of The Hurt Locker as a winner. It was also a low budget movie, too. A woman winner is very exciting. I think district Nine and Inglorious Basterds looked good too :)

Ive seen almost most films ,
avatar , hurt locker , inglorious basterds (my fav) , up in the air & up
I didnt get to watch precious , not looking forward to it though.
Hurt locker is a different war movie, it doesnt have evil dictators and such,
just a bomb disposal squads experience in jordan.
Up in air has a good storyline, and acting by george clooney.
Inglorious basterds is awesome , fun film with a nice ending.
