The thing you hate most about being a girl/woman?

Before anyone flames or me or calls me a troll, this is NOT female-bashing or intended to encourage it in any way. It's just that there's already been much discussion about the good things about being a woman, and this time around I think it's time we pondered about the down side. Because yes, women have come a long way since a century ago, but there's still loads of crap (pardon my language) we still have to put up with. So I'd like to ask the female (and non-female) My Lotters out there: what are some of the pet peeves you have about being a woman?
I suddenly remembered my grade 5 history class, where we were taught that in primitive, tribe societies women were held in such high esteem as priestesses before their role was subsumed by more patriarchal values and beliefs. Anyway, it's kind of off-topic, but it made me think about how things really stand about the development of the recognition of the role of women in society...
To all the daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers out there - happy women's month!

Hi, I think being a women is great, I do not have any regrets or anything such sort, in fact we can give birth to a new life, which is the greatest feeling of being a women can have, the labor pain is nothing compared to the joy of seeing the baby. The only thing I don't like, is those 5 days, you know what I mean, rest is all good and perfect.

I would definitely say..the monthly period and the PMS and pain accompanying it! I had my fair share of really painful cramps and it's not a pleasant experience. Could we have it just once a year?? LOL!
But aside from that, I love being a girl. it's fun being one!

i think that there's a phenomenon where some girls (specially the really thin ones, because of their lack of fat) don't get their period at all. it's called amenorrhea, if i remember it right. i wonder what the trade off to that might be?

Although as a woman I can give birth, I really hate my period cames once a month. I really enjoy to be a woman except for this physiological phenomenon.

Women used to be dominant in society until the plough was invented. Yes, I know, it seems so far-fetched, but it's true. The reason is because before agriculture people produced food by means of horticulture. In the horticultural society, women participated a lot in food production because all they needed to use was a stick for planting. So even pregnant women could do it. Just think about how big women's contribution to society were in those days. They not only produced food but also gave birth to children. But when the plough was invented, women were forced to remain at home because ploughing made them have miscarriages as ploughs were very heavy and not suited for women. And that's where the domination of men began. The plough was more suited for men, so they were the ones who produced food, and women became dependent on men for food. Not until industrialization did women start having a voice in society again. With the invention of machines, women were freed little by little from their dependence on men because instead of men being the sole source of a family's livelihood, machines helped people produce food and other goods, lessening the emphasis on men't strength for survival. I learned this from Ken Wilber's A Brief History of Everything. Well, at least I hope I gave justice to it. It's very hard to explain everything when you only have a little space. To answer your question, what I really don't like as a woman is my menstrual period. It's just so uncomfortable and so inconvenient. When I have a period I always think, "what if I get a stain?"

wow.. i didnt know that. thanks for sharing.
here in the philippines though i've heard stories of women in the rural areas being out in the fields with their entire family when it comes to planting/harvesting season. whether they are pregnant or not, or even if they've just given birth. i think poverty is a factor as well. it kind of evens out the distribution of labor, at least in the agricultural sense.
when i get a period i always pester the people around me when i'm out to check if i have a bloodstain in my butt. hehe.

Women are rather most respectable human being. Hate for being a woman, may still woman dont have safety to stay alone in the society. They are being cursed or bad named. They are capable to live alone, in some situations, but its not safe. They have lot of problems from strangers when they are alone, on internet,,compared to men. But women are capable to face anything.

I hate the way we feel that everything depends on how we look or the clothes we wear the pressure on females to look aand feel good all the time is outrageous and everybody gives into it because everyone else is doing it and otherwise it would be like walking around in your 80's clothing with your curly 80's perm and expecting to meet people and make friends, get jobs/promotions, discounts and taking seriously. I think beauty is expected as there is so many beauty products ( crazy expensive beauty products ) That women are always looking for another treatment or procedure or new jacket new look to suceed. Ahhhhhh my vent out! =)

that is why it takes a really strong woman to not care about any of these things.
women like these are very rare but very admirable as well.. you know, the ones who don't really care what others say because they know their real worth and beauty.

hi justdroppingby The only thing I ever really hated about being a woman was the darned five days of being moody, wearing kotex and acting sometimes like a bear with a thorn in her paw, much to the both amusement and a tad of anger from my poor husband. other than that I am going to upset one responder again by saying theres no greater wonder than that of looking at your first born, wow. at age 83 I still remember looking at the perfect little hands and feet and thinking this is my son, my own little baby boy. How awesome.so sue me those who disagree as thats my opinion and my right to have it too.

don't worry i don't think anyone can take that proud and joyful feeling from you, even if they'd want to voice their opinion.
after reading all the comments, i've begun to see myself as a lucky girl. i rarely get dysmenorreha, i think just once or twice. i must thank my mom for that, coz i read somewhere that it has to do with the reproductive organs you were born with, which of course you get from your maternal line. yes i get moody too but i am always moody, pms or not. hehe.

wow you must be a very attractive woman. or maybe your boss is just pulling your leg. in any case, i think ignoring them will be the best thing to do. you wouldn't want to look like you are encouraging them...

Hmmmm. I only think of one thing that I hate so much, and that is my monthly period.
It's painful, it's uncomfortable, it makes you just want to sleep all day long, and it's even messy sometimes. I'm really unlucky cause I have dysmenorhea every month, and it just hurts a lot. And I hate the feeling of having a period cause it makes me uncomfortable, and emotional, and I tend to get angry easily...
I wish men could really experience what we are feeling, even for just once. Hehe.

That's true. When I have PMS, the only thing missing is a big sign on my chest which says keep out! cause I'm really moody and cranky, and I snap at everyone. Good thing my boyfriend is really understanding.

Being moody and soft hearted.. I cannot easy get my mood back when i feel moody in some cases i just don't understand my mood sometimes,in a minutes it change all of a sudden.Being soft hearted i don't feel comfortable with this i want to say NO but it just my heart beats faster than normal when I'm about to make tough decision.Well being a girl/woman with heart that full of affection its hard to deny that woman change their decision /mind so suddenly without considering it twice.

i'm glad to meet a soft-hearted woman im mylot.. however i must say that not all women are soft hearted like you (oh yes i know some really steely femmes as well as some hard b***s). as a corollary, and contrary to popular belief, there also do exist soft-hearted men out there who are full of emotions..though they are hard-pressed not to show it.
(I think I should make that clear before someone reacts to a possible implication/inference of your post).
thanks for responding!

the thing I hate most about being a woman is PMS! That's the top one. I always suffer from bad PMS every month and sometimes it sends me crawling on to the bed. If I could live without that then every month would be better! The other thing I don't like is men looking down at me because I'm a woman. Like can you do that? I'm not trying to compete and hey this is the 21st century, move on cro magnon!

I like being a woman, I like girly things. I like being pampered and romanced. I wish I was a little bit stronger, my feelings get hurt very easily. I wish I was more confident with myself but for the most part I believe I have a great life. There is alot I haven't experienced yet, I have no kids but and looking forward to playing the role of wife and mother.
