What do you make of all these earthquakes happening all over the world? The End?

I was just wondering about the earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, Indonesia and now Turkey. It's like 4 major earthquakes happened in populated areas in the past month or so! Now, I know earthquakes happen all the time, even as we speak, but most of them happen along the continental plate ridges. What's the chance of 4 strong earthquakes happening in populated regions around the world in such a short span of time? All the regions are earthquake-prone and you really won't see earthquakes happening in the middle of a continent. But I was thinking about the probability of the recent ones happening. What do you think? The movie 2012 gonna come true??

ya to be simple... do not put it in such a way that the earth is going to come to an end...
what i believe is it might be the end to human kind... i bet there will be species that can survive what ever might happen... and will be able to propagate..
i dont think so the world will come to an end..

Yeah, earthquakes are just normal for the Earth. It's just that the probability of these earthquakes happening within a short span of time and in populated regions baffles me!

i guess its just because of communication and the development of the same that is casing the panic..
this might have been the scenario some 10 or 100 years back also... but we are knowing about them... instantly...

Hmm, that's very true! Earthquakes have been happening all the time, but we're getting to know about them better and instantly today. Very good response! Thanks!

It does seem that the techtonic plates around the world are particular active at the moment, Haiti, Chile, Hawaii, hey we've had a couple of little earthquakes in the UK over the past couple of years too. looks Hopefully all the seismic activity will settle down again soon but it pays to be prepared I guess.

Let's hope so! The places where the earthquakes happened recently had little preparation, I guess. Construction engineers have a way of building earthquake-safe buildings, but I think these poor nations can hardly afford those advanced buildings.
Thanks for responding!

I guess the movie 2010 has really made an impact of how things are to come. Well I still think that when calamities such as this happens there are many that would think that the end is near.
In my humble opinion earthquakes like this happens all the time around the world. It is just that, there comes a time that major one do happen rare and occurrences like the ones that seems to be very close to each other makes us think that the end is really near. I am not thinking that way but rather I remind myself that it may be but if you are spiritually and physically be prepared for that there is no need to worry if it is really the end of times or not. I just go day by day and enjoy every moment and do not worry much about the end as much.

"What you so, so shall you reap!"
That is the main ideology behind these quakes! Haiti, Chile, Indonesia, Turkey, and who knows next it might be our own country! We have ruled enough in the biosphere and it is time for nature to hit back at us!

Well I don't really see much of a connection between earthquakes and human intervention on nature. But you're right about how human beings have changed the Earth's atmosphere and habitat over the past two centuries so rapidly. The planet has its own way of healing itself, and it's a slow process. But humans have probably offset the equilibrium. The reactions from nature would be similarly rapid and violent, if I'm not wrong with my system theory arguments! Thanks for your response!

This is really alarming but whatever happens we can't do anything about it. If it's our fate then we have to accept it. But let us not lose hope and still be positive that we can and we will survive! Don't lose faith in GOD and always pray.

I'm not really being pessimistic, I'm praying for the lost souls, and let's hope nothing out of the ordinary and explainable happens too soon!

It does seem like an 'uncommon' occurance to have massive natural disaters happen all around the world. Not that it is a disater, but the DC area got hit with more snow this year than in the past 20+ years. I'm not saying that 2012 will be the end of all time, but if this is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg for the 2010+ decacde, life may not be the same around the world. It is a shame that Chile got hit so soon after Haiti was just beginning to recover. Resources are spread thin and I fear that aid to Chile will take a back seat as people will not be willing to open up like the world did for Haiti - sure Chile has more government and infasctructure, but it is not prepared to take on recovery alone.

That's the cruel reality! Nations are depleted economically, and there doesn't seem to be an end of disasters. I wonder if someone did a statistics of how many major natural disasters we have seen in the past decade and how that correlates with history. I can remember the Asian Tsunami, just unimaginable! Well that also happened because of an earthquake, didn't it?

Nope, rather its the beginning. The beginning of Mother Earth wrath towards humanity. Its payback time. We put too much on it and we take too much from it. Thats why, she is dying. And the only way for Earth to survive is to heal herself. Healing includes all kinds of natural calamities and disasters. I just hope we will not be here to witness the climax of it.

Yeah most probably 2012 will be the end year, maybe not, only God knows.
But about all the natural disasters happening around us, maybe it's Mother Earth
expressing her wrath for all the abuses done to her.
Helpless animals being brutally slaughtered, precious oils being extracted from its bosom, trees cut down for profit, air pollution, abuses done on whales and dolphins
and other wrongdoings done to nature.

It really horrible to see all this earthquakes in only 3 months! o_O I don't believe in 2012 the movie, this movie increase the fear in all people, now they are all afraid and they attract bad things... yeah, i elieve in law of attraction. :x
I say that i didn't believe in 2012 the movie but i believe that something will happen in 2012 but not in the same that 2012 movie, i don't think that there will is a end of the world but just the end of A world.

I myself don't know who to believe. The people who think it's the end or the people who don't. People say it's religious some say it's scientific. I have no idea, no-one does. Some religious books tell of the end and the signs such as wars, earthquakes and drought.

i've seen the movie 2012,and was shocked by the scene of the doomsday.back to the life , I don't think the world was polluted to the degree that we cannot retrieve ,but that is really a alarm bell that we human beings should consider seriously what we do now will bring us tomorrow .
we can also see life is full of sunshine, live with a optimistic heart and cherish every minute we're spending on this planet.

I know about earthquakes but I never experienced one first hand. maybe it could be the beginning of the end. 4 major earthquakes in just a short span kinda gets me thinking about whats happening to the world. Maybe global warmingis finally having its effect on the world. Dont forget about the movie The Day After Tomorrow. Next thing you no there are twisters in LA and where about to experience a new IceAge.

Do you guys ever hear something about Gaia theory? The theory states that the earth is a single giant organism (visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_theory for more information), and its taking its revenge among us all for hurting 'it', I know it sounds weird, but when we actually think about it, it seems to make sense, the disaster seems to increase as human population increase.
