I think that a fireman should be paid more and respected more for everything they do. They do so much to protect the people of their respective towns.

Hello wildlittlefan,
I wish we could pay our firefighter more money but it comes out of out Taxes we pay the town for property and if we paid them what they were do I think all the towns would be broke the same goes for the police and EMT'S too. It is not easy decision. I think one way to pay the family for his loss of life is they get to college for free... I think that is fair. Police and fire departments always deserve our respect for doing what they do and putting there life and family life on the line.
Thansk and have a great day

i definatley believe firemen should be paid more and be well respected because they risk there lifes everyday..actually ive always been quite discusted that football players and other celebrities get probably 20 times more than what firemen do and they dont risk there lives ive never understood it and sometimes whats happening to this world when people get payed millions for a movie and yet surgeons and firefighters get paif hardly anything its ridiculous !

Yes they most certainly should be paid better for what they sacrifice and not only that but their families should be given benefit that will support them like someone said free college or if they don't already have it a special scholarship designed specifically for children of firefighters, perhaps free on a huge discount on medical services and other things.

Of course they deserve a better income and better benefits because they are fighting a great cause. I believe that people that are working on medicine or doing brave things such as fighting fires, they should be being paid the kind of salaries that pro athletes and celbrities are paid.
I believe that our money should go towards making sure that we are all healthy and that we are running at the optimal. Firefighters are great and noble people and I thank our creator for those angels.

Being a fireman is not an ordinary job. Its a high risk job since every fireman risk their lives to save people from fire. They are one of the modern hero's we have right now because of their sacrifices and courage to help the people in case of need. However, the government only recognize them in this kind of situation especially if an accident has occurred like this. The best way to recognize them is for giving them the benefits that will secure the future of their family in case an accident has occurred. The government should give them a worry-free mind so they will perform their jobs to the fullest. Its not easy to have this kind of job so they deserve a recognition, not just by plaque or awards, but a well secured future their families. (they really deserve this)

I am sympathy for that fireman. It is an example of a big sacrify of a fireman. They sacrify their life, time and energy in order to help people like us. But many people do not realize they are exist or not.Sometimes they are only get little respect for the job they done. I think a fireman should get better or high income and get greater respect from public.

Well, that was my dream job, when i was young. I have lots of respect for them and i love the profession. Its not a easy job though, but has lots of thrill, adventures and above all saving a life. They once saved some 800 children from an school fire accident. Hats off to them. They should be respected as god, for they take the risk of their life for somones life. I dont think for their job, what will be best income..but its beyond money..They are the real HEROES!!

Fire is one thing mankind can't conquer, although it sacres away the beasts, it could also burn your hands.
Whenever there are fire on our land, there are the fireman, who sworn to protect the people and their loved ones from the burning blaze.
They put their lives on the line every single day, every sortie could be their last, yet they face the blaze as if they are on the beach, what courage and bravery.
Such brave men and women deserve nothing less than those who are sitting comfortably in their offices, and their heroic efforts should be recognized and respected. Imagine a world without fireman, where a single blaze can turn an entire city into a nightmare.
We are too used to their services, that their presence are ignored. If fireman is on a strike, I can see people will be on their knees to beg for their return, as fire can only be tamed by those brave souls, and ordinary people are powerless against such natrual force.
Fireman by all means are heros in our world, they never back down from a "fight", and they will always be the last one out of the battlefield, they truly deserve our deepest respect.

Yes. They rescue people, and really are beneficial to us, more than most of our tax paid employees. They're not out starting stuff, and harassing people like the cops. We have teachers who keep getting more and more money (yet they complain they don't get paid that well, as they're driving off in their mercedes), while the education level is going down, yet they always get more money, cause everyone falls for their sad stories. But everyone ignores the firemen and women. They should definitely be paid more. And if its not in the budget, then fix the budget. There are quite a few people who don't deserve their pay, as much as our fire fighters.

Well, if it was up to me, then I would surely raise the salary of firefighters. I think that these ones are really tough and brave men, because extinguishing fires requires lots of courage, knowledge, endurance and physical strength. That's why do firemen always keep practicing and are doing lots of training during the time free from calls. Unfortunately, it seems that budget of the government doesn't allow to raise expenses for salaries of emergency units. And that's bad.

There are so many careers where men and women risk their lives. They are not paid nearly enough for this. Firemen risk so much each time they answer a call. They have earned and deserve our undying gratitude and respect.

Hello wildlittlefan. Wow, very sad story! I think that those are real hero's. The ones that on daily basis risk their lives for the safety of the community. Its heartbreaking to think what a hard time must the family be having, specially the children loosing his most important personal hero, daddy.
Well, about your question. I do think a fireman should earn a better income. I don't know elsewhere but in my country they make so little. Not every fireman, because they are several positions or kinds of firemen.
For example, the Fire Safety Officer makes more money than others because of what he did in the past, but now he's only working at the Fire station. There are engineer firemen, like the one that turns on the steam engine and controls the pressure and the seaman. And there is the one driving the fire truck.
The ones called firefighter are the ones that go to extinguish fires and the ones that rescue people. Like the one you told us about. I totally think this are the ones that should receive a better income and more rewards because they risk so much for people.
As you ask they are totally worthy of our respect. I'm glad there are people as kind and committed as they are. Have a nice time here at mylot. Libna.

Yes they should, because their job is an extraordinary and exposed in all kind of danger just to save the life of the victim and their belongings. The government should give the firemen sufficient benifit and compensation.
