It almost killed him but Barney actually managed to keep his promise to Robin and say no to JoLo's character. Everyone probably has some imagined something that was whispered in his ear that caused him to run out of the bar in order to keep his promise. Of course she probably didn't really say much of anything since except maybe something to make the timing right.
