Do you live to eat or eat to live?

I love to eat but I do not live to eat. Eating is not an obsession with me. Sometimes I even forget to eat lunch....like today. I had breakfast at 11 am and then a sandwich at 9pm. I was here most of the time and it just slipped my mind something which happens frequently. My roommate is constantly eating. She says she is always hungry. Thank goodness I don't have that problem. Do you?

I spent most of my life living to eat...spent years getting a lot of issues worked through about my relationship with food (most of us who have food issues have a psycological basis for why we eat as we do) and am now a recovering food addict and still working on reinforcing the new behaviors of eating to live not living to eat.

Thank you so much for your response. It has literally made my day....I have learned something very useful. I never knew food issues existed....Of course, I have been out of mainstream USA since 1957 and was never up on such things. It really is "food" for thought. It's great that you have been able to overcome the trauma and get yourself straightened out. God bless you and others like you for that. Keep up the good work.
PS: I had intented to select your comment as the best response but unfortunately I goofed and the wrong number came up. Please forgive me.....You get a plus for this one too.

I eat to live, although sometimes it could be the other way if for example you offered me some chocolate or some other "interesting" type of food. I do eat breakfast every day, although the time can vary considerably and then I will snack on fruit during the day but we always have an evening meal. My husband would think his throat had been cut if he didn't have the evening meal. LOL

Good joke gifana and thanks for sharing it with us. As for getting the evening meal on time, maybe it happens and maybe not. LOL
Actually we all cook here, so it could be anyone of us who prepares the evening meal. Mostly my husband and I though because we like spoiling our son as much as we can, since is he home here so seldom of recent years. :)

Was browsing thru and found I didn't respond to this one. At least you and hubby like to cook....which is something I detest. I am such a perfectionist that if it isn't done according to the recipe I run amuck. Forgot to ask if your son is married or like me....loves to be footloose and fancy free. Just curious.

oysters and rattlesnake are "interesting". hehehehehe Sounds like you got things under control....as long as you give hubby his dinner on time. Reminds me of a joke.
Newlyweds on first day hubby goes back to work. At breakfast she asks "what do you want for breakfast?" "You know what it want." So up to the bedroom they go......
As he's going out the door she asks, "what do you want for lunch, honey?" He said, "you know what I want, honey". So when he comes home they go to the bedroom and "have lunch".
As hes going out the door she asks, "what do you want for supper, honey?" He answers, "you know what I want, honey."
When he arrives for supper he finds his wife sliding down the bannister. After reaching the bottom she runs upstairs and slides again. She does this a couple more times and when she gets to the bottom he grabs her and ask, "Honey, what are you doing?"
Warming up supper, honey......

I eat to live. Yes there are some foods which I love to eat but still I am not that fond of foods that I live to eat.

I know what you mean. I have moments that I live to eat when it is something that I haven't had for a long time.....like live Maine lobsters. If I had 'em right now I could eat at least a half dozen and ask for more. But thank goodness something like that only happens few and far between meals. Thanks for dropping by.

I'm a little confused. I don't see anything different between the two thoughts. Living to eat means that you eat most of the time because you enjoy it and whether you need to or not. Eating to live means that you have no reason to to eat when it is not necessary. Or something like that.
Thanks for dropping by.

I eat to live, but love to eat. Sometimes life gets the best of me and my addiction is food.
