No more tea for me.

I freely admit I was something of a tea addict. It wasn't one or two cups a day more like ten or twelve. Just recently I got ill with a vomiting bug and couldn't eat or drink anything for thirty six hours. When I recovered and tried to drink a cup of tea I couldn't face it, it made me feel ill again. So now I've been off tea for three weeks and I have to say I feel a lot better. I'm sleeping better and I'm quicker to get going in the morning and don't feel so drained. Have you noticed this if you've given up tea or other stimulant drinks like coffee? Is there some beverage or food you thought you'd never give up but then you did? Happy Mylotting!

What kind of tea are you drinking? You should try herbal tea as replacement to commercially sold tea out there. Better, and healthier. :)

I was on black tea, you know, the hard stuff! I am on herbal teas for hot drinks now and lots of water.

Green tea actually has some health benefits. I have also read that having a cup of coffee once in a while can actually be beneficial to your health as well. And well tea is better then coffee because it has less of the caffeine though it should also be taken in moderation 3 cups per day is not that bad as far as I know. I know there are some really great herbal teas of the Yogi brand. I love the Echinachea one for immune support. The detox one is alright too. I was going to look into trying Chamomile also. I also read that Passionflower is good for you too. It's good that you feel much better now that you don't drink the black tea. As far as sleeping better I am guessing that you probably had tea closer to bed time so that does kind of mess up things in your body. One of the healthy eating recommendations I have read says to try to limit the tea (and coffee too I guess) to the earlier part of the day so it doesn't mess with you when you need to go to sleep. I am tea-aholic and I cannot do without drinking at least five cups of tea. I cannot give it up. I try but I cannot sleep well without having at least a hot cup of tea before I close my eyes. I am trying to drink more water. In winter I hate drinking cold water so I am putting a lemon slice in warm water. Water purifies your body so I do need to drink more of it but I doubt whether I will be able to give up tea once and for all

Only five cups? Pah, that's nothing... I'm on roobois now which isn't the same but is a nice enough drink without the disruption.

I love tea! To begin with I must say that there are so many different kinds of tea that I can't believe it would be a case with you of not being able to face any of it. If you are doing better without then by all means leave it out of your diet. I have the same feeling for Dr.Pepper. If I drink too much then it does make me sort of sick after awhile. Then actually happened and I didn't drink it again for a long time. Then I got thirsty for it and I find that if I drink it occasionally then it is okay and I don't get sick of it.

The only stimulant that I drink regularly, that I've also admitted to as an addict is diet coke. I don't drink coffee, so this is my caffeine fix. I've come to a point where if I don't have a couple of glasses before lunch, I would be dozing off in early afternoon meetings at work. I've also gotten used to drinking half a cup before bed. At the start of this year, I gave it up. It was hard at first, but I managed to 'live' for a few weeks without it. Unfortunately, I'm back to my diet-coke-drinking days now.

Hmm I guess it depends what kind of tea you drink. I've noticed that roibos makes me very energetic, when I drink a lot of green tea my liver starts to hurt. But also we drink here a lot of tea from herbs - like thyme, tutsan, briar, chamomile and etc. From these one there are some herbs that may make you sleepy if you drink much tea of them. So to conclude, I drink a lot of tea, but different types of tea.

Even though tea is healthy, just like anything it can be dangerous when drunk in excess. Black teas isn't the healthiest and like others have said, an herbal or green tea are much better options. I used to drink soda in excess, when I finally stopped I noticed a lot of the same things you mentioned, sleeping better, more energy. During high school my sleep schedule was so messed up that I would be awake from around 10pm-4pm. Sometimes I would sleep for 2 hours before school, I'd crash as soon as I got home from school and sometimes wouldn't even see my family because I slept so late that they'd have already gone to bed. It was actually a really depressing experience to wake up and find out they were already asleep. I think all the caffeine was a big reason that I couldn't get to sleep during normal hours :(

Is this a normal type of tea? What type of tea are you drinking? I find it suprising that you became sick from drinking tea, but I know from experiences that too much of anything can be bad. You were explaining how you drank ten or twelve cups a day, this may have caused liver damage, similar to the over intake of soda. You might want to check if it is another major problem, because tea is known to help you out. When I am sick I always make protein smoothies and tea, so I cannot imagine the tea would make you sick. But to be safe I would stay away from tea for a while. You should try orange juice, it is delicious.

I too love a nice, warm mug of tea with two sugars But I try to drink it as little as I can because I know that if I am not careful, I will become a full-blown addict It's true, we Brits love our tea

Well, yes i had craze of chocolates as i had tooth decay and problems. I couldnt stop taking chochy though i tried many times. Once my dentist said that they have to remove my plumonary teeth as its decayed badly. I felt this as very shameful situation, so for my teeth sake.. i quit chocolates. Though taking chocolates is not a issue, but the numbers we take and proper brushing matters. But i did quit having them.

I am a tea lover myself but I learn to have it not more than 3 cup a day, few week a go my friend told me to drink green tea instead of the black one, she says it work better for my blood type (O), because the black tea contain certain acid that not work well for me. Why don't you try more kind tea and chose which one more suitable for you.
