Words Per Minute. How fast can you type?

I've taken a test once when I was applying for a job at my college and it was 72 words per minute (though it was random typing because I was trying to get as many words as possible) I have only tried counting it once so I'm not sure if I'm improving or not. I've seen some people type really fast. I wouldn't be surprised if I see someone here with 200 words per a minute.

i think iam fast when type word but i never measured how fast iam. where we can check? any software? LOL

Hello TheWebGuy! :) I don't know how fast I can type words per minute, but I know I am a fast typer because I once became addicted to chatting when I was still in high school. Mylot also helped me type faster but till now I don't know how fast I can type. Mind if you give me the link of that test :) Would love to try that too. I'm about to graduate this March and I know that one of the qualifications for a good job is a good typing skills. So I would really love to know how fast I can type. Thanks :D

I was curious about this after seeing this question. About two years ago I applied for a typing job and was required to take a typing test. At that point I had 69 WPM with 2 errors, I believe, which was really good at that point. I just retook the test and got these results: Net Speed: 95 WPM (words/minute) Accuracy: 95% Gross Speed: 99 WPM (words/minute) So I guess my speed did indeed improve over time! That's pretty exciting. I hadn't realized that my speed had increased or anything, but I guess so! I know that I can type pretty fast and that annoys an awful lot of people because they don't type nearly as fast! I have trouble working in groups, too (I'm going to school for programming, so I sometimes work in groups), because the other people in my group tend to type really slow and I tend to get really impatient. xD

hi! well, i haven't count how many words can I type per minute, but i think that can type about 30-40 words .well, i am not a speed-typer, because I don't use the computer that often, but 30-40 words per minute are really enough to me, because i think it is fast enough :)

Around 50 words per minute, but that is when I copy something from a computer. If someone is saying it to me it is 3 times faster. It is easier even when i copy something from a sheet. and I think 50 wpm i quite good.

I haven't taken a typing test for some time but the fastes I got was around 80 with at least 95% accuracy. I used to be a transcriptionist and all I did was type all day. After less than a year, I think my typing speed today would be around 70 to 75 words per minute. I think it my wpm would become less now because I am not typing as I was a transcriptionist although I get to maintain it since I use the computer everyday.

When I have applied for a call center agent wherein there's a test needed for words per minute, i got 58.

I didn't realize there was a typing test online . . . I'll have to find it!! I haven't tested in a long time, but I will admit that I can type pretty darn fast. When I first took typing in school (we are talking about over 15 years ago), I was one of top in my class . . . and mind you these were on those stiff, old ribbon typewriters - not the smooth computer keyboards that we have today. I think it's gotten better over time, simply because I've had the practice with work all these years.

I type around 64 words a minute but my mind cant think of the proper word to type and that compromises my typing speed. I learned all the keys about ten years ago.

I am very slow i can only type 22 wpm but i am working on typing faster
