How unforgiving is god?

I was talking with my mom the other day about god and Hitler, and whether or not he went to hell. I was like, if anyone's going to hell its Hitler, and she was like, but if hes all forgiving even Hitler might have made it to heaven. then i was like, but he wouldn't be sorry, and she was like, but he was probably a nutcase who thought he was seriously doing the right thing by ridding the world of jews. so, what do you guys think?
