I've always wondered: "Are carbonated drinks such as soda dangerous?" I have seen more and more recent news about the dangers of soda on the news. I am not sure if this is true or if it is just a theory. I used to drink more soda than I should have, but now I have lowered it to about 12 oz. a week. It is scary to think that we may be serving this to our children without knowing what harm it could do. Everyone knows that children's bodies are not as strong as ours. At my work, McDonalds, I serve thousands and thousands of ounces of soda a day, and it makes me really question it. Have any federal health associations investigated this? Please share your opinions and thank you for reading my discussion.

Thanks for responding to my discussion. Soda is a terrible substance; which is highly dangerous. The average soda contains 39 grams of sugar. The US Guidelines stated that you should not have more than 40 grams of sugar for every 2000 calories. Let's say a soda is 150-400 calories, this is out of scale. Did you used to drink soda when you were a child?

That's an excellent idea, and I'm sure my manager would be fine with it. In fact, I was looking online, and it seems the most common reason is because their kids crave sugar and it's effects and don't see the negatives to drinking soda excessively.

Well, one thing is clear, excess of everything is dangerous. This could be a harmful if consumed more than needed, poison goes by many brand names, such as Coca Cola and Pepsi. Generically, this poison is on the market in formulations known as soda, pop, dangerous drinks, you can say. Although it is said that it helps you lose weight and you can even expect to advantages but there is harmful effects too. Carbonated drinks are also commonly a source of sodium. This is not to say that a healthy carbonated drink is not possible. Far better is to eat fruit whole, because fibers in the fruit inhibit fructose absorption into the liver. Nearly everyone by now has heard the litany on the presumed health effects of soft drinks: Obesity. Tooth decay. Caffeine dependence. Weakened bones. But does drinking soda pop really cause those things? Absolutely.

Thanks for responding to my discussion. You brought out some excellent facts. I think you may have hit them a little hard. I didn't know soda can help you lose weight? Where did you hear this, or is it just a personal experience. The dentists make good money off of all those soda drinkers and sugar tooth children.

Not only is it harmful because of the excessive amounts of sugar, but it also includes artificial flavor and color. And I have read that diet soda's are even more harmful than the regular soda because of the sugar substitutes, if that is possible...
When I was young, I indulged heavily, but I stopped drinking soda's about 15 years ago, and surprisingly enough...I don't miss them.

Thanks for your response. Glad to hear some more evidence on the side against it. Good point about the diet soda's, I have heard they are worse. I wonder what they use to substitute for sugar and all those calories? Keep sober, from the soda obviously!

Thanks for responding to my discussion. I'm glad you realized how unhealthy soda is. It's good to drink water to flush some of the harmful or over-concentrated amount of ingredients in. I think it is dangerous to drink too much liquid, because I have heard that it can damage your liver. Diet soda is still unhealthy, but there's not much you can hurt from switching from regular to diet. And I totally agree about the moderation. To me moderation is no more than 4-8 oz a day.

It's sad to think that the company's nowadays manufactured foods and liquid drink and also uses those chemicals, preservatives or additives that may cause illness to the consumers. In our local store Aspartame is still very much at large in most famous products here in my country. I just wonder how they were able to earn billions in profits and the consumers is dying everyday because of their products.
I knew some of those food and beverage manufacturers are aware that some of their products can cause many illness to a lot of people. Still they continue to produce the products. They are such evil businessman.

Not if you drink them now and again. It's all about moderation, no matter what you eat or drink. I'm sure the odd glass of Coke on occasion won't kill you
It's when you start drinking carbonated drinks like water that the health issues occur, in my opinion

Thanks for responding to my discussion. That's how I feel, because I don't think soda has anything that is harmful in small doses. If you have a little sugar it is not harmful, but too much is harmful. That's one of the worst things about soda is the sugar and alternatives put into the diet. I don't trust any carbonated drinks, so I stick with water and juices.

that is true, regular drinking of soda isn't really good for health. a friend of mine used to drink at least a bottle a day of coke and she ended up having very high sugar levels... luckily she was able to control herself
