Have you ever been rejected by the boarding gate?

A friend of mine was a little bit late for his flight yesterday to the airport, but not entirely late for his departure time. By the time he get to the boarding gate with his boarding pass, he told me, there was still 20 minutes before the departure time, he was rejected at the gate by the attendant. Because the airline apply the 40 minutes rule or something like that, they want all the passenger 40 minutes earlier to get on board, otherwise, you can't go in. Have this ever happened to anyone here?

yup, it happened to me once and i was so devastated cause i had booked that flight to meet my sister in Jakarta, and that trip was my birthday gift to myself. luckily there was another airline that is having a flight to the same country so i had to book on the spot and that airline was so good that they were suppose to close their gates too but knew i was going to board so they waited for me to finish my booking transaction. When i got back i filled a complain on that airline that rejected me, i manage to refund some of my money too.

That really sucks for been rejected. Now, they want to fill up the seats for the earliest passenger, and they only apply the T40 or T30 rules, and whatever that is, you have to be in the boarding gate 40 minutes or 30 minutes earlier, otherwise, you have to find another flight.
