Change We CAN Believe In

Hi, I'm not so fond of politics, so I think it's my weak spot. However, I feel I must advocate for what I feel is right:
When I think of Liberty, I don't think about how other people should live their lives, I think about how other people could live their lives. I believe in liberty, because it makes sense. To have real freedoms, to be able to exercise what the constitution intended for.
Obama said that he would induce change. But I think he has all the wrong ideas for change. Spending money, as a country entirely, we don't even have. So many things he did wrong. It's an easy find on Google.
But some of this stems way back further than even the first George W Bush! Some of them stems as far back as the 1940s. A lot of rogue and corrupt programs that are either operating without many people's knowledge, or are known, but not known exactly of ALL of what they do, which could be harmful to our country.
Prohibition, anti abortion laws, anti gay marriage laws, anti gun laws, etc. These prohibitions harm us. These prohibitions do nothing but waste money. These prohibitions are also only used to make money for the people who benefit.
Our Government is bought out. Did you know that China owns nearly 44% of our national debt? Does that sound secure to you? At one swift action, China could literally pull down the entire US economy. Which would indeed disturb the whole world's economy, but it is plausible to shield yourself from such a loss.
I feel Ron Paul would be a great candidate for the 2012 election. It seems he will try again!
A lot of Ron Paul's ideas stems from the very liberty he wants us to have. Do we really have a right to deny gays marriage? Do we really have a right to deny guns to people who enjoy using them appropriately? Is it our job to tell people how to live their lives? No. But it is our job to make sure they live their lives based on some basic rules.
One of the reasons I like Ron Paul is that anything he has to say comes straight from his mouth. Literally, un-formalized, un-filtered, pure ol' Ron Paul. When I read his website, I knew for a fact that this was coming from him, because of the formulation and pattern he presented that was 100% the same as he says it on the news, his own videos, etc.
I'm tired of the current abuse and corruption the government has done. It's time for real change. It's time for a change that REALLY benefits us as the people of the US. No "I'm sort of socialist, but I'm just going to call it democratic for short" bull crap either!
I would really like it if you took your time to read Ron Paul's website at www.ronpaul2012.com It's a little long, but it's well worth the read. You will learn some interesting facts and he also speaks of his plans quite clearly and doesn't run you around in circles.
He really can say it a whole lot better than me, which is why I left mine a little short.
What are your thoughts on how our Government is doing it's job? I would also like to see what people who are not from the US think too! Would you vote for Ron Paul? Do you think this is a step in the right direction for change?
Thanks.

For the first time in my life I have been taking a closer look at candidates from outside of the two major parties. Ron Paul is definitely interesting.
I would like to correct something that you posted though. China owns U.S. securities...bonds that the U.S. as well as other countries sell. The U.S. also owns foreign bonds. China cannot pull down the entire U.S. economy with these bonds. They can sell them and, in fact, recently did sell a bunch to Japan who now is the largest holder of U.S. securities. No country wants the value of the U.S. dollar to plummet because that effects the value of their own money. We are definitely a global financial community.

He is one of the very few honest, decent people left in congress and probably the only republican or democrat I would still vote for.
It's good to see someone your age taking up the cause of liberty, quite heart warming in fact. So many young folks were so enthralled with Obama, or at least the "idea" of Obama. Heck, even a lot of adults seemed to be almost hypnotized by him.
So many younger folks in this country seem completely oblivious to the principals this country was founded on. So many have a complete lack of understanding of what our constitution says...and worse... fail miserably at understanding it's spririt.
Propper history is not taught and so many kids just take for granted that what they learn in school is all there is to know. Critical thinking is a lost skill. Herd mentailty and the false left/right paradigm is the main stay of most political argument it seems.
Our for fathers would be roilling in their graves to see what we have done with the gift they shed their blood to leave for us.

I think politics would have been more interesting for me back before the Civil War even started. :P I guess I'm not fond of it because of the stress it isn't supposed to be.
A lot of what you say is definitely true in the US. I'm sad to say I've seen it happen all too often. Many people my age feel the same way I do about politics, though. So it's understandable why it's happening, but I find it quite enjoyable to say what I want to support and tell my government what I want. :)
There's a lot of heros in the past who would be rolling in their grave over this. Look how TV's made us! We're profitable, marketable people. Slap your logo on clothing and sell it to some kid who wants to impress by wearing a certain brand name.

Ron Paul is a very smart person who I agree with about 60% of the time. The problem is that he will never get the GOP nomination, and we all know that the democrats won't nominate him, so he is really a man without a party. I think he would make a good candidate, but he does have some far out beliefs on things, and he won't be bought by anyone so he will have a problem raising money.
