Can you give me some creative ideas?

I am currently decorating our living room and trying to keep costs down the best I can. I have found a large picture we used to have in our dining room before I re decorated and thought I could recycle the frame to place in our living room.
However, I thought it may be a nice idea to create a picture of some kind with the family but not sure what to do. I figured using paints and maybe the kids hands & feet or some sort of abstract art. A one of a kind for us to be proud of as we did it together.
The husband is not very creative and my eldest daughter is keen to get involved just hasn't quite got what I'm after.
It is a large picture with plenty of room to be creative, I just seem to have mind block!!!
If you were doing this kind of project, what would you be thinking of??

I think a collage sounds like a good idea. Feet and hand imprints sound cute, so why not go along those lines? let everyone gather a little something that means something to them and incorporate it. For example, a patch of a favorite blanket, a treasured photograph, something one of the kids drew/wrote, etc. Let everyone gather a few things that really mean something to them and then choose which to include. That way each of you has something special in it and you can look on it as something special for years to come. :)

Make a colage. Have the kids pick out pictures of their favorite times together and do some creative cutting and pasting. You could even split the frame up so that each child could have his/her own section.

I will need to see the living room firsthand to get an idea which decoration style to choose.
