This question is for Christians, would you celebrate an occasion if you knew that it was derived from a pagan celebration?

I'm glad u brought this up, as I have been really uncomfortable in celebrating christmas and Easter due to its pagan origins. Now, my question to Christians is why are we not celebrating the Biblical feasts when our own Messiah (our Lord Jesus) celebrated them Himself? I admit I go along w/my family in the Christmas/Easter tradition to keep peace, but still, I do it w/a heavy heart...

i believe in the bible and follow the bible and i and i am n0t misc0ntruing it... If Jesus celebrated s0mething else, say, his birthday, it would have documented at least once! When he attended a wedding celebrati0n it was documented... Let us again, not misc0ntrue what the bible is really teaching us simply because we are s0 attached to a celebrati0n. I know that Jesus only have four b0oks written detailing his life but we have 62 m0re books detailing the life of other faithful followers of God and n0t was it was documented any other feast other than the pass0ver.
It's difficult to accept,i kn0w... But it is the truth... Don't be mad at me for trying to say the truth

Well almost all the feasts we Christians celebrate came from pagan practices. You would be surprise how common our practices are to the pagan worshipers before. Even some of the dates were adapted by Christians so that people would easily adapt to the religion. Feasts are actually a pagan practice which was adapted by Christianity.

I respect your view but that would be disastrous according to Mat 7:21,22. Even if we think we are honoring God, if not done in the rightway, we will be shunned by him.

Is Easter Celebration an example of this? Recognizing the sacrifice of Jesus just to redeem us from sin is OK, but with celebrating it as a tradition on the date prescribed by the Catholic Church, I am not sure if it is OK. The Easter Celebration date this summer falls on the same exact date of the Pagan Celebration of Ishtar, their goddess of Fertility. What can you say about that? Christian beliefs merged with Pagan?

Nope! What isn't in the Bible isn't followed by me. When any celebration gives no meaning, but would symbolize a pagan celebration, I definitely wont do it.

Do you celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day? How about May Day or Halloween?

hello daylstone,
in our religion, we are not celebrating anything that is not in accordance to the bible...
i wonder, how we can please God or Christ who is the subject of the celebration if we are doing it in a pagan way? hmmmm just a thought.
good day!
