Coulrophobia is the term for the fear of clowns. My friend probably has one. I found out that it isn't something to be laughed at just as what we used to do. One day, I even sent her a short clip of Pennywise (the clown from the classic movie "It") through Facebook. She told me she didn't even finish the clip because he looked really scary.
Are you or have you been afraid of clowns? Or do you know someone who has this phobia?

I think they are rather creepy but I'm not bothered by clowns.
My fiance isn't terrified to the point of panic attacks, but he is scared of clowns and hates to look at them.

Ahaha, it is rather funny. He must have had a very strong negative opinion of them as a child and it just stuck. He doesn't even like seeing them on TV, even worse if they are intentionally creepy.

I don't know anyone personally with that condition. I would say I have such a phobia but I do think clowns are pretty creepy and I do not like them. I did used to have a clown doll that my uncle gave me when I was a little girl but that was the only one that I did like at all.

I never like clowns because they are not funny and looks really weird. When i watch them preform, I get bored. there is nothing funny and entertaining watching clowns making a fool out of themselves. I wonder who was the first man who gave this idea of clown.

hell0! No, i am not afraid of clowns and i have never been! but i really know that there are people who afraid of them. for example the brother of my ex-girlfriend who has read Steven King's novel "It" and then he really began to get afraid from clowns he even didn't want to sleep in the dark and began keeping the light on :)

I have an autistic friend who is scared of clowns.
Why scared of clowns?
Because he is unable to detect emotions in other human beings accurately. Therefore a clown frightens him (he is 34 years old) because they have red noses and war paint and make loud noises and often have painted on tears around their eyes.
A fear of clowns is no laughing matter and some people want to kill clowns. Being frightened of clowns can be a sign of some other more serious problems or phobias too.

clowns kind of classic indeed little bit scary for me but for a modern clown like mickey mouse, donald duck and so forth, not to be feared, I think

I have one I guess, since I was a child I never found clowns funny but instead they are very scary, until now i am afraid of them, I always see them as killers or something, their faces are way to disturbing to me and they make my hair stand. I dunno why i am afraid of them, I never had any bad experience with them either. I guess they are just scary.
