We can't count the number of times we have made purchases? But do you keep receipts on purchases? For how long?

welcome to the wonderful world of mylot mich. yes we keep the receipts, specially when it has warranty. some products has factory defects and it is not hard to complain if you still have the receipt. in some things that we buy it is not hard also to exchange if you have the receipt at hand. on food purchase as well on restaurant and fast food my wife keep it for 243 hours so if it cause some kind of tummy ache we have proof that we are at that resto. good luck and hope to see you more here at mylot

I do keep receipts sometimes. No reason at all. Just for keeping.

If you're audited, the tax man likely won't care about receipts for day-to-day purchases unless they're for items that show up on your tax return.
I generally only keep receipts for larger items anything that costs more than a hundred bucks or so because I get an additional year's warranty from my credit card, as long as I have the original receipt and charge slip. It's also a good idea to have receipts for larger items if you ever need to file an insurance claim after a fire or flood, for example - they're one way of proving what items you owned and how much you paid for them.
