Has Firefox browser been slow for you when you are posting, responding to posts, and even connecting to sites through using the browsers? It seems like it is hanging up when posting or responding to a post and I do not know why or how to fix it. Any ideas. I cleared out everything I could think of. Defragged? Any help is great, thanks a lot!

Hey friend,
I've got some tips to speed up Firefox from some sites. You may try them out. Well that is good, That is another thing about mylot .... there are alot of information you can find out about almost anything on here that is very helpful...... People on mylot are very generous with their time and their knowledge.... I have found it is better than paying for a way out because most of the time a mylot buddy will help you and it does not cost you a dime.... In return you have made a friend and can return the favor on something they may need help with.

Well i do not see any performance changes in my firefox (actually i am using minefeild) may be there is a drop in the interent speed which you are getting .
Did you try to get a bandwidth check on your internet connection.??

Well minefield is an experimental browser something like Firefox 3.7 as a kid ...
its faster and has more features but has a possibility to crash though it dows not do so...

Yes it is good, the bandwidth. What is minefield? I have to look that up. It only happens on this site though that what is getting to me. I could if it was affecting other site but it is only this one. Thanks.

AWh, that is frustrating.. I know i just want to quit sometimes because it so annoying. So I can relate. The slowness is so irritating. I like to work and get it fast not having to wait for it to catch up to me.
Thanks.

I use firefox as preference and have no issues, it just updated to the new version too, so that maybe the reason you are having issues. I would do normal maintenance on my computer if I was you.

you are welcome you all, see its important to delete temp files, cookies and degragment, also use spybot.com's program to get rid of spy ware. Then you may find it makes a good difference.

Speed in surfing/connecting in the web actually depend on the bandwidth of your internet connection and not in your browser. I am using Mozilla too yet I don't experience problems like that. My advice is have time checking y our bandwidth and it may also help if you also check your hardware for possible shortcomings otherwise a virus might be responsible of causing it.

Yes I have had trouble with slow response, hang ups and freezes with Firefox. Everytime they upgrade it gets worse and they also have a problem with script writing to page issues. They are aware of some these problems and mostly it is on slow computers old ones which is what I have.

So many things to check. My pc is about 4 years old so are you saying the processing may be causing it? How do I fix that I do not want to but another one just for this site, lol. It would take me forever to make all that money back$$$$$$$$$$$...
Thanks

I don't know if it was Firefox or Mylot or what but I tried about 40 minutes ago and it was so slow that I couldn't scroll or type. I had just been on other sites with IE and had no problems there. I left Mylot and Firefox and went to other sites with IE and again had no problems. I have to use Firefox at Mylot because the new Mylot is incompatible with my version of IE. Now Firefox and Mylot seem to be O'K so I don't know what the problem was for sure but it was almost as if one or the other was cramming spyware onto my computer.

I never noticed about this as regards firefox browser!!In fact i use firefox when i surf the ent and even when i post here on mylot and in reality the speed is the same if i use ie or others browsers!!I guess that the speed don't depends on browser hre but how much time mylot servers take to handle our different requests!

That is an idea too. Maybe it is because of all the people posting , reading, at the same time and it needs time to get to it. Did not think of that. Or how many people are on at the same time. It was just getting discouraging to participate when your constantly having a hangup trying to post, answer on the site. Thanks.

yes that has happened with me too i noticed that it will take a while to finish a post that i put up on firefox, but it is my favorite browser to use and it only seems to be slow on here for some reason, but they have just updated the firefox browser so i hope that helps it so it will go faster then it has been, because it has been a little annoying and you don't know if the post will go through or not and that always make me think oh no! maybe i will have to start all over.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing maybe i will have to start over with what I have written. I just hit the reload button through Firefox and it loads up quickly. I don't get it. Its frustrating.

Well, I'm not using firefox right now. After it runs for a certain length of time it keeps wanting to crash on me. Right now i'm not in the mood for errors poping up when I'm in the middle of trying to do something. I have better things to do with my time then to deal with that mess.
I'm thinking of just uninstalling it and narrowing down the amount of programs on my computer.

Yeah we are going to do a back up and uninstall it and then reinstall it. See if this cures it. I do not have a lot on this PC because it is a new hard drive. So it should not be an issue. But who knows. Thanks.

Not only that. My fireFox browser always: NOT RESPONDING. Then, it said: We're sorry. It's embarrassing. Then, I decided to change my browser to Flock.

LOL, Yeah I have had that happen to me to. At first I thought it was cute. Then I am like, come on, do you really have to this now? Why me? What is Flock? I never heard of that one. This has been an informative site for me. I used to have to call tech support all the time to get help but here I am getting more information than I do with them. I really appreciate all the help from everyone. I am going to search flock. Thanks.

You are so lucky. I hate it when this happens to me. Everything else I do is pretty much good to go with this browser. Occasional mishaps but usually clears itself up. Glad it works for you maybe there is hope for me , lol. Thanks.

My anti virus could cause this? I never thought of that either but could be possible I assume. I just want it to fix itself and I will be happy. Is there a better anti virus out there that would not do this problem if that's what it is?

Firefox itself is faster than Internet Explorer, I find, and uses less memory. The more tabs you have open in either browser, the more memory and processor time it uses and the more cache space is required. If you have recently cleared your cache, then the sites you open regularly will appear to be slightly slower to load because all the graphics and scripts &c will have to be downloaded again.
If you find that your PC and the Internet is slow, open Task Manager and check the Processes and Performance tabs. These will tell you how much processing time and memory is being used and by which applications. Make sure that no unexpected app is using more processing time than it should be and, if necessary, close the process to see if that makes a difference.
After that, first suspect your connection speed, then check that you do not have any viruses, trojans, adware or other malware that could be causing the problem.

Thanks a lot!. I did not think about that at all and it makes a lot of sense.. That may be part of my problem and just did not realize it. Firefox let you open up new searches in the windows already opened which creates another tab. That may be my problem and I was not aware of it until you said about he graphics and stuff being reloaded. Sometimes I only 1 windows but 4 or 5 task bars within the window. I will be more conscientious and watch to see if that is the problem. Thanks for the enlightenment Owlings. I will let you if that was the problem or not.

Firefox always has been different in its way,
if anyone switching from IE to Firefox, they may experience the problem,or
if any one who has used it for years and are constantly adding plugins and all features to it generally complain it being slow
as for me Firefox is always a darl and i get most of my work perfectly and fast,
well
warm regards

Yeah for the most part it has been great. Cute messages when it fails or cannot get the page when your looking for it. It is almost a way to keep you from getting mad when they take the responsibility for failure, lol. I am not a fan of IE. Thanks for input.

This may be probably caused by some third party plugin or addons that you used.. Firefox tend to lose its stability and speed with unstable addons. Firefox used to crash frequently for me with different addons - experimented.
After all that, Firefox is the fastest browser, After Chrome once surpased it.. Now the fastest browser for windows is Opera 10.5 ... Use it and you will certainly fall in love with it.. the interface, appearance, speed (ofcourse) is uncompareably superb!

Maybe, I do not know. Is there a way to check? I am not sure how to check that. I was thinking about chrome but I used it before in a trial basis and it was not as good for me. But I was having issues when I tried to use to so that may have been a factor as why it was not working good. Thanks.

I am trying to stay away from IE. I have had way to many bad experiences with this browser. I have to upgrade from IE 6 to the present one and am scared to do so. My recovery/install discs have IE 6 on it. I just started using Firefox after install and never looked back. I have to upgrade but waiting for the last minute to do so. Thanks for input.
