Do you believe in KARMA?

KARMA is a religious concept of cause and effect. Like if you have caused a trouble intentionally, it will have a corresponding effect whether it be successful or not. But KARMA comes when with no intentions from other people, as if by heaven's mandate, you are being counter-attacked by having a bad day or sickness or anything that would totally make you feel helpless. Taking my experience as an example, we were four friends then sitting at the open canteen in the middle of the night. With our curiosity and hunger combined, a friend stole some goodies from the closed stalls and the other served as look-outs. We had been successful and shared our parts. But, later week from that day, we and again met in the canteen. This time we are filled with sickness - one had experienced loose bowel movement, the other has a sore eye, the other had a stiff neck and I can't walk exactly the time when we met. Is this mere coincidence? Or was there really KARMA involved.

But in a context of Philosophy, I think Karma is what nature pays to what has been given.

It's the same thing in buying foods. The more quality the product provides the high is its price.

I believe in Karma. Most of the religions today believe in Karma. It's so true because I've experienced it a lot of times in my life. Even some people I can see they are experiencing it too.

I want to pick on a thought of yours. That, KARMA serves as a guide at the same time. This is not only a consequence of what you have done but a discipline.

for me i don't believe its called KARMA.. for i know that was called consequences.. maybe karma or consequences.. for every mistakes that you've committed, you face the consequences according to the bible.. as for example Adan and Eve because of their mistakes until now suffer the consequences... but about what happened to you and your friends, that was only a coincidence..

They are interrelated somehow. Karma and consequences share similarities. But only that consequences are the things you get from your actions. But with the example I have given, I can't clearly say it is a consequence.

i very much believe in karma. karma is not just bad luck or whatever. it speaks of something that whatever you do, good or bad, you get something out of it, consequences or anything. like if you killed someone, you might not go to prison but you will be haunted in your dreams by the person you killed or your conscience will. i experienced it too. well, i stole my sister's jewelries. she looked for it and later they found out i pawned it and not able to pay for it. so, my family don't trust me anymore for what i did. that's a karma. bad karma. good karma is much better though. just by merely helping people from the streets, you get a special feeling that you cannot identify of what it is. it i a good karma.

It really depends on the situation really how people would like to make KARMA defined. As for me, I don't believe that was a coincidence. This makes me believe more in Karma. On the other hand, for your part it is a consequence of one's decision. Everything here is subjective. They are all based on basic human experience.

I don't know whether it has been a coincidence with you or it has been a karma effect.. But I do believe in it... We pay and gain for our misdeeds and good deeds here only. There is no heaven and hell!! All is here... Do bad and you'll have to pay for it, in time and at the proper time too... If you have been good, then you'll get what you want... I believe in it!! have fun!!!

You have a good point. But to say there is no heaven and hell, I must disagree. I think there is. I just can't explain their existence.

No that is coincidence, only the weak of intellect would connect the two events all the best urban

But it's hard to believe that it was merely coincidence, you know. There must be something about it that connects us to the "stealing" we made. :))

I would like to beleive in Karma, but I can't. If it is real, then I must be a horrible person now, or in a past life because bad things keep piling up on me and I try my best to be a good person.

I know. This does not apply true to all. Thus, it is a religious philosophy.

Not really but i'd like to think so. Im a pretty nice person i think and not so many great things come my way, hence im not really sure. I would love to think that Karma really does exist though, so all the decent people in this world get something back :)

I definitely believe in karma, although I see it more as a law of nature than a religious concept. Many times, after an event, it is only the thought that karma will get the person eventually - and it often does - that I can let go of what they have done. I know this isn't a religious debate but, the main reason I don't see karma as a religious thing is that I believe in a loving and forgiving God, not a vengeful one.

Me too. I see KARMA as a natural law over than being a simple religious concept. Nature strikes back of what we do wrong while religion does not teach revenge. So religion, IMO, has nothing to do with KARMA.

I somehow believe in KARMA since there was a time that i teased someone and what i just said to that person went straight back at me. I'm totally regretting why i said it to that person since i am now experiencing what that person once experienced.

Karma is an imprint in one's Mind. When one performs a good deed out of good intentions, the good intentions come from the Mind.Having done that good deed, the residues of these intentions stay in one's Mind as "imprints", and that is "good karma".The opposite goes for evil deeds (or what the Buddha would call "unwholesome deeds")done out of greed, hatred etc.i think is is related to god who has created us
@uniqueorn (1011)

Of course. It's a fact that all is related to one God. But you know. Just the thought of Karma itself, is it something believable or Karma victims were only victims of coincidence? Just a thought.

i deffinatly do believe in karma. everything that you do always comes back at you in the end. in some way or another. its not always the same every time. but things happen at different times for everyone. karma is something that everyone has to deal with i think.

I don't believe in karma. I believe in chances and statistics. Although it's a common sense that usually nature will smack you back if you meddle with them...but as I see it, the only thing that has received it's immediate reaction is our subconcious. So our physical may not be related after all, but our subconcious won't. And that's karma from my perspective. It's about choices and chances.

I think physical aspects has got to do with karma too. Basically, it is first and foremost affected when you suffer after being hit by KARMA.

Exactly, totot_53. By the way, I haven't heard of this. Did Alicia Keys say this or is this her song? Your brief explanation tells it all - "What goes around comes around what goes up must come down."

This is really my most liked topic - yes I do believe in KARMA. Our life is totally dependent on Karma's.The Past Karma's,present karma's and the future. We are born here only because of our Past Karma's We have to do good karma's in this present life to achieve moksha - but kaliyuga and lot of MAYA which stops one to develop.Hence to gain more knowledge about these spiritual terms one should follow a GURU. I need not explain any thing more about a karma - as you have enlightened your example.

Thanks busybee. Karma is an Indian philosophy of religion, correct me if I'm wrong. But I find it rare hearing the past, present and future karma. I find it confusing rather. The terminologies are way too hard to comprehend. Although GURU would mean an elder or a teacher. But my example has something to do though to enlighten myself how KARMA works as you said. But the terms were really confusing me.

I don't believe in KARMA. But my bestfriend/girlfriend do believe. So when ever we are together I get carried away. For me it's the person who holds in his/her life with the guidance of our GOd.

I do believe in Karma. I think that if you treat people a certain way, others will treat you the same way. I also believe that if you have done something the same will be done to you. I don't know if in this case it was Karma, but rather bad food. I think the Karma will come back to you by somebody stealing something from you in return.

KARMA, I believe has something to do also with the law of attraction. What you portray to others is what they will give you back in return.
