I'm sorry to what happened to your laptop. I would be devastated to if my laptop got stolen. Mini laptops are just for basic use like internet surfing, email, making documents, music, etc. It's portable, you can bring it anywhere. The not so good about it is the small hard drive space. If you are fond of downloading stuffs, you're likely need a portable hard drive because it won't fit in the mini laptop. The small screen is also a disadvantage. If you are fond of watching movies or videos, I think those are much better to watch on bigger screen. I personally am not into mini laptops. You should not rush into buying a new laptop for now. Just save some more money until you can afford to buy a regular laptop which is much better than a mini laptop.

You do make some good points; however, there are actually mini laptops in the market now that boasts of large hard drive space. I am currently using a mini laptop which has 160GB of hard drive space.

I have also buyed an laptop last month only and haave a same question like u. But its matter for what u are using on it. Mini laptop is okay for working upto 1 hr, internet browsing... According to my brother(he is an eye's specialist) One should not use mini more than 1 hr continuously...it stressed on our eyes... ------------ I think u should buy a regular laptop only....I have buyed an ACER aspire 4736z...Its low cost and working good upto now....

so you mean its not recommended for long time use. im an internet addict who always love to browse internet whenever i am so i guess its not for me. but then i think if your into the small screen then your eyes will going to adjust it and going to love it anyway, ill just try it an lets say besides its less expensive than those regular laptop. i saw one with touch screen features almost the same price as the other mini laptop so ill think about it.

normally i prefer a reglar laptop or ultraportable but having a decent configuration!!In reality mini laptop are comfortable just because they are small and cheap but after few months you will use it you can understand that mini laptop are really limited due to the a limited capacity of processors, ram and other important components in a portable pc!!So mini laptop aree suitable if you want do just simple things as check mails, store some files, updating your facebook/twitter account, and so on...surely if you need a bit more power and even speed from you pc surely netbooks should be too much limited!!

i have this mini laptop of mine for over a two or three months now. it is really limited in features like no cd-rom drive, small monitor, and battery time which is only two hours. but it is so handy and comfortable to bring. maybe you can get a better one but will be more expensive.

I think it depend on for what you using the laptop, if only for MS office and internet I think Net book (mini laptop) is suitable and easy to carry too. But if you use it play 3D games and Editing Picture and video using certain software it easiest to do on regular laptop, especially with that small screen its hard to edit picture or play game on it. Recently I found acer net book that it say can last until 8 hours, I think that amazing you don't have to worry when you bring it to WIFI spot.

I would like to ask you what do you intend to use a mini laptop for? If you travel a lot and you are a buisnesswoman than mini laptop is for you. I have found a very good article about mini laptops which you could read here. http://www.littletikesreview.com/minilaptopcomputers.html The article mentions both the advantages and disadvantages of mini laptops. It is very light weight and has a low cost associated with it. It can be durable and a very good choice when you are doing business on a trip or while you are traveling. It is the best and perfect tool for quick and easy documentation and computing. Sometimes, there are disadvantages to Mini Laptops. Let’s take a look at them. Mini Laptops have a small screen size, and they tend to lack CD drives. This is okay, however, because files may be transmitted via network or flash card. It is not for entertainment, as it does not allow music or anything of the like. When purchasing a Mini Laptop, it should mostly be for business purposes. I hope that this article helps you to make up your mind.

Before I bought the mini laptop, I thought it was good because it was much more convenient since it had a smaller size. When I have used it for some time, I have to say I am a little disappointed to it as I think it is not as fast as the normal size laptop. Sometimes if I open a very large software such as Photoshop to edit my photos, I have to wait. This is what I am not satisfied. And usually the mini laptop doesn't offer the DVD-ROM. I don't like it although it makes the laptop smaller. DVD-ROM is quite important for me. I love China

It depends on what you're using the mini laptop for. If you're just using it for normal computer functions such as using word processors, listening to music, watching videos and surfing the net, then yes, a mini laptop would be perfect. However, if you are one to be burning CDs and DVDs, or things along those lines, then a mini laptop wouldn't be ideal because most wouldn't come with a CD-Rom/DVD drive. In fact, the laptop I am using right now to respond to this discussion is a mini laptop that has nearly everything a bigger laptop has except a CD-Rom/DVD drive. I seldom burn CDs or DVDs, so this mini laptop is perfect for my daily use because it has all other functions and it is super small and lightweight so I can bring it about when I travel places. Just in case you're wondering, my mini laptop is a Lenovo S10 Series laptop.

If you are only using it to surf the net, it's fine. I was going to buy a mini-laptop(netbook) until I realized that they don't have a hard drive. So, you can't watch a movie on them, or use any software. This is a big problem.

I also want to buy a mini-laptop. It is mainly for convenience purposes. With it, I can bring it anywhere because I can simply put it in my bag. I can even bring it when I am traveling. Anyway, I will be using the mini-laptop for basic purposes only, like surfing the web and using MS Word, Excel, etc. If you want to play games, etc. then mini-laptops are no good at all.

At the moment I have three laptops in different sizes, and the main problem with the mini one isn't that it's really, really small :-) I don't think I could have had that as my only laptop as it's speed and capacity as quite limited. I've used it when I've been traveling, it's great for storing pictures, looking at them (but not editing them), checking e-mails and news, but not so good for doing much more or more than one thing at the same time. Plus it takes some time getting used to the keyboard, I think it's a bit too small to write a lot on but that'll depend on the size of your fingers. The screen is more than big enough for most surfing, reading, etc, but a bit too small for editing pictures so it's maybe just as well that it's not really strong enough for photoshop. You can install and start it of course, but I think it would be extremely slow.

If you use your computer a lot and it is the only one you have, I would go for a proper laptop. I would get frustrated with the small screen. My friends who have one think they are great, but usually have a main computer to do the more complicated work.

If the mini laptop will serve your purpose in buying it then buy it so its better if you will buy a new one than a second hand. For you are sure how you can take care of it & you know it well than having a second hand.

If I will choose, I'll go for the regular one. It's not that I don't like mini laptop it's just that the screen is small and my friend said that the regular laptop is much more OK in terms of quality.
