None of us are happy all the time. When you feel sad or out of sorts, what do you do to help improve your attitude? Does optimism play a part in changing your mood?

...Hi there VIOLETdie, Welcome to the ranch, it's a nice place to hang out. I love chocolate and that is a great idea, it is supposed to help you in a lot of ways, in addition to tasting delicious. Music always gets me moving, even if I am sitting down, love good music. If you are surfing the net, you are able to be so involved with what you are doing, you forget your troubles for the time being. Excellent information to change your attitude from down to up. Takes so much for your input. Take care.

Call a friend who can cheer you up. Think of someone who has been down and needs a friend. Call and encourage that person, and it will make you feel better. Read the bible, go to church, pray and ask God.

...Hi there chrystaltears, What a great list of things to help make you feel better if you are unhappy or in a rut. Especially calling and trying to help someone else, who may be having a problem. This would help take your mind off of whatever has you feeling down. Reading the Bible would give you a brand new perspective and broaden your entire outlook. Thanks so much for your input, take good care.

....Hi cher913, Now you're talking, do things to pamper yourself. Some of the foods that you like sounds great, nothing like a big bowl of ice cream. Sit down and watch a great movie, the funnier the better. Anything that gives you pleasure would be a good thing. Listening to good music could also help out a lot. Thanks so much for sharing some of your thoughts.

I think of all the people out there that probably feel the same as i am and i think that i may have alot of things going on in my life, but there will always be someone worse than me.I try to think of the good things that i have in my life aswell as all the things that i can do in the future aswell as all the things that i have got through going without for a few years knowing that in a few more years i will be able to have all the things i have waited for.

...Hi jugsjugs, You present a very sensible way of looking at how lucky or how blessed we are, with so many good things in our lives. Trying to be positive and look at how much worse off we could be. There are people who don't have food or water in some places in the world. So being thankful for what we do have and not concentrating on things we don't have, is a very good thing to do. Thanks very much for responding, take it easy.

hey! when am down i talk with my friends , listen to music, watch movies, listen to my favourite songs...basically anything that interests me! something i enjoy doing the most! if u still feel grumpy then just go to sleep! use a meditation tape if u cant get sleep!
some people write diaries in which they would write happy moments. diary dedicated to "good events" u should write them out and read it when u r sad! nothing like it :) :)

...Hi there khalida, You have listed some very good things to do to stop feeling sad or unhappy with things. Taking about things helps a lot I'm sure, I pick up the phone and call somebody, see if they have time to listen and let it roll. Sleep is one of the best things to do to feel better. Thank you for your thoughtful response, take care.

Most of the time I'll just listen to music. Music can always improve my mood, and since I seem to have a lip singing addiction, it helps a lot. Haha, I'll talk to a close friend sometimes, it depends on the situation. :)

..Hi AmberDinoFace, Music can take you away from whatever is bothering you, you can get lost in the tune. If it is a song that you relate to good times in your life, it makes it even better. I love music, and listening to some of the songs I like, can definitely change my mood for the better. You are so right, music helps an awful lot to bring a smile to your face. Talking to friends is very good as well, especially someone who understands you as a person. Thanks so much for your thoughts. Welcome to the ranch, enjoy yourself.
