I received this today. It appears to have come from Germany with a de suffix in the email, but the email could be spoofed. The response email is a hot-mail account. Since when does the government use hot mail? Do they really expect anyone to give them their tax Id's and tax info? Not me. For one, I don't live or make money in America. If I did, I'd only send the info the the IRS. I'm wondering what they plan on doing with people tax info. ID theft? money theft? Your guess is as good as mine.

At least there are no spelling errors. LOL Someone will respond to it or they wouldn't even try. The poor person who falls for it will have a hard time getting their life back on track. ID theft is no laughing matter. I had my ID stolen many years ago before computers by someone claiming to be me. They committed a crime. It was a huge deal and the DA was trying to get me to plea bargain for a year in jail. I couldn't have done the crime because I was in Europe all summer. They didn't believe me. How could I have done whatever it was if I wasn't in the country. No I didn't fly back to California for a day or two then fly to Europe again. It was a huge headache to deal with it. The D.A. finally dropped the case when he realized I was clueless as to what a D.A. is. The bad part is that it is still on my record.

LOL! Those scams can be so funny! I love how the English language is butchered by these people and how they use terms that are not used in the U.S. like "allow anyone to bring shame to this great country". These scammers will try anything they can think of so it's always a good idea to ignore them. Do not respond since that will verify that your email address is a good one.

The usual scam email. I've been receiving a lot of them nowadays. Scam emails of many kind such as mails from the UK and from some offices stating that someone has judt deposited or donated a money under my name. Then they would ask you to provide your personal details and to contact someone. That's it they are all scams and nothing more.

I win the UK lottery almost every week. Maybe if I played, I'd buy it, but I have only played lottery a few times in my life. I only play if a group of friends forces me to be part of it. Better to loose a dollar then to loose a friend over the principle of not gambling.

It annoys me that these people assume we are stupid enough to respond - they insult our intelligence on a daily basis - I just wish we could get our own back on these jerks.. I found a website once where the guy spends a lot of time winding up these scammers by replying. He got a so-called goldmine scam to send him samples of gold dust... whilst pretending to arrange to fly out to Africa to meet them with a suitcase full of money. The funny thing is that they are hoping to caplitalise on the greed of the recipient, but he used their greed against them instead. They were so convinced that he was going to bring them cash, they sent him about $30 worth of gold...
"bellow certificates" quite brilliant... although to be fair, sometimes, I do think if you are stupid enough to fall for ones of these scams, it's quite possible that you deserve it...

Hi, Cat Lady!
I received this several times, and I only read it the first time. The government will not contact you by e-mail unless a relationship of some sort has been established in another way - mail or phone or personal contact - before. Even then, e-mail contacts are rare. Anything of this sort is a scam, and could carry harmful viruses. they should be deleted unopened, without hesitation!

My goodness the F.B.I. needs grammar lessons! It is a really obvious scam isn’t it? It hasn’t even been done professionally (if that’s possible). What I mean is there are some scams out there that at least look like the real thing. I receive so many of these kinds of emails; they are all in my scam folder and I don’t usually bother to open them. What saddens me is that there have been poor souls that have been scammed by these a##e h###s. I saw a documentary about an elder lady who was naïve enough to lose thousands of dollars to one of those emails claiming she had won a huge lottery...Sad...

My mail opens itself. No big deal. Anything not in a folder is usually spam. I just go through and delete them. Most spam goes into a spam folder. I don't see those.
