Hello Mylooters!
I would like to know what musical instruments do you play. I must confess, I did not play any musical instrument, but I would like to learn guitar and piano. My friend sometimes give his guitar, and I play something. But I am not so good at his field. What musical instrument or instruments do you play? Maybe when you was a child you play some musical instrument, and when you get older you stopped it? Maybe you want to learn some musical instrument or instruments, if yes then please say what musical instrument or instruments you want to learn.

i play the guitar and i'm still learning to play it on my own for the last one year and three months. i don't come from a musical background too so i developed a liking for the guitar quite late, and also it's hard to find someone to teach me. now i'm very passionate about the instrument and willing to give my best to become a good guitarist. also i'm not a naturally gifted musician(like i am in playing soccer, pencil sketching, etc). so i have to labor very hard to get the techniques right. i'm happy that i've come this far on my own.

At the time my mother was 'making' me take lessons & i didn't really want to. My teacher would not let us play modern music & that's what i wanted to play. I wish i had kept it up but i didn't.

I do not know to play any musical instrument. I always wanted to learn Veena, a string instrument from my childhood. But I never got a chance to learn it. Fortunately my children learnt it and I am happy that they can play the instrument.

This is a really fascinating dicussion, ET. I used to be able to play chopsticks on the piano, and I once started to learn to play the guitar, but I wasn't dedicated enough. I have always loved to sing and been in several different choirs, occassionally doing solos of church music and oratorios. I've also joined folk clubs and sung there. But I would lvoe to have been able to play something too.

Thank you Jakill!
Nice to hear that you've sung solos on church and oratorios. However, it also requires courage. Yea folk clubs sound nice, how long do you have sing on them? I hope that you learn some music instrument too. Good luck to you! Have a nice day!

I was in high school when I learned to play the guitar. But it didn't pushed thru because I have short fingers and besides it's painful on my fingertips. I envy my friends who can play the guitar, strumming their favorite songs. Now, my two daughters seemed interested in musical instruments so I have them enrolled in piano and guitar lessons at summer breaks, they can also play the lyre and the flute. My other son is into drums. I wish to buy them a complete set of instruments someday and they can organize a band if they want to.

I don’t play any musical instrument and I don’t know how to read music but I sure wish I did! The only thing I ever learnt to play was the recorder when I was at school and from memory I don’t think I was too good at that! One of my friends can play the piano really well and when she plays I am in awe! I’m going to ask her if she will teach my eight daughter to play, it is a beautiful instrument, not very portable but beautiful to listen to. I like the acoustic guitar too. I may just go and learn one day...But then again…I probably never will...(sigh!)

Hello Paula27661!
It is nice to hear that you want your daughter to learn, and play piano. Maybe your daughter at beginning do not like it, but after some years she will be grateful to you. I say this from my experience! And I suggest to you, do not delay to learn musical instrument to tomorrow. Because you can delay it all the time, and never learn it. Good luck, my dear friend!

hi there, i play drums. lol
yeah but m no pro or something like that, i love drums! i have always been interested in playing them, i learned most of it myself and observing the video tutorials, it took time but hey it all pays, i like to jam with friends i given several on stage performances and it has all been so good, erm except one time years ago when the vocalist voice was so high and he you know what happens after that, he could not sing and we had to stop the show in the middle. Eh well that was during the very first of my days, geez i can't look back at time, but after all that everything has been going good and we enjoy giving shows in small college competitions, our own college, coz it's big and many other bands come from other places, we had fun this january giving our performance, it wasn't anything big but yeah we enjoyed it! :)
i play drums but i can also play the guitar, a little though hehe, i can sing along playing it, and if some one needed backing vocals with rhythm i could help i guess well i love to sing playing the guitar but i have to be more bold at that, i am pretty much comfortable with the drums now and we enjoy playing it on stage.!
hey friend it is never too late to learn any musical instrument, just go for it and enjoy, i can play simple bass too, so what are you waiting for, get started! ;)

Sad to hear that you want to learn how to play guitar, but you have no free time. You're a very creative person, because you have so good ideas. Girls group? Yes it sounds really good, I wish you luck, to create girls group, and hope your group become famous. When you have free time, training to play guitar.

No idea when I was a kid what is my fav instrument! but I was become a musician. b4 i get married, that's my life for living...at first I'm one of the vocalist in our group band at the same time I'm interested playing bass guitar & drums so I know how to play it also.and then when our drummer is getting married I replaced it, cuz we need to survive our group, much easier not having a vocalist for the meantime, rather 1 of the instruments are gone....its really fun as a musician I love it!

As a child I learned to play the piano and the guitar, but I was never very good so I gave it up. I did sing alot, in the church and at school, I was pretty good at that and always sang to my babies, as they got older I sang what we call camp songs, silly things taht children love. Now I only sing in the car when I am driving alone.

Learn a musical instrument is very difficult. Need a lot of time and patience, maybe you need try again to learn piano or guitar. You can do this as a hobby. Sometimes I also could not learn, and do a few things, but when I became older, I got it. I am not talking about musical instruments, but you can try again it. And I'm glad that you sing in free time on the car while driving.

I play bass guitar in a band and also do some backing vocals (if you can call human voice an instrument). I've played bass for like 2-3 years now, but I don't think I am very good at it. I have kind of mediocre skills on that one I think.
If it comes to instruments I would like to learn to play, I think I would pick the trumpet. I like the sound of it and another good thing is that it works without electricity. Harp would be also good for the same reasons.

30 years ago I bought a guitar (accoustic) at a yard sale. I learned to play it some, then took lessons also. I learned the basics. I started hangin' out with some guitar players, especially one I dated and it taught me more. I learned to play in a group by first sitting in the hind scenes and learning to change cords when they did. I was slower than them, but got better as time went by. Later I met a guy who could play the heck out of a guitar and sing. I used to sit and listen to him from 5 in the evening til 2 or 3 in the morning.
I learned to play a piano when I was about 33. I took some lessons, and so did my daughter. We enjoyed playing and singing together.
I still have my second guitar that I've had for 25 years. Yamaha. I bought it from a guy for $200, becaue he wanted to buy a new one for $500. After he got the new one, he said he would have rather kept the one he sold me.
I have an antique beautiful hand-carved piano, cherry. Also have a keyboard.
I also play a harmica. Only been playing for a couple years. Pretty good at it.
I used to play a 12 string banjo, but I gave it away to a very special friend of mine with a terminal disease. God rest his soul.

I play the Djembe!
A Djembe (pronounced mostly as jembay) is an African drum which I bought last year and had some lessons. I just play it for fun and it is something that I want to do more of once I get rid of some of my other commitments.
We have some accoustic guitars at home too, but I just like to strum away at them. I am not really interested in learning the guitar anymore. Drumming is easier for me!

I play French horn, piano and recorder, although at the moment I'm not really practicing any of them. I have oiled my horn (the valves need oil to function properly) so I plan to start again at Easter. I don't have a piano at the moment, my mother has one that I suppose to have but the problem is getting it up to the sixth floor. Maybe some time this summer, I must find some strong men or maybe some professionals. Moving pianos can be back-breaking work.

I play the drums, bass and guitar!
I enjoy playing it with my band. i had my guitar lessons from my father since i was young. i studied basic drum lessons and then learned to improve my skills on my own. Playing the bass is the same with the guitar but you play mostly the low notes.
I have guitar effects processor for my guitar to further enhance my output.
