How can you increase traffic to your blog?

Hi everyone,
I need your help, I just created a new blog and I need help in getting traffic to my blog. How do you do it? I want to get traffic that are not in violation to blogger's terms and conditions.Could anyone help me? I need more insights on how to get my blog going. thanks.

Be creative in your blog, insert something like news that makes your visitors return back to read more. Be unique on topics you write. Refine your writing techniques. Here are some ideas that might help you increase your visitors.
1) Try to post your url in various search engines.
2) Insert the blog's url in your email signature
3) Try to browse similar blogs and insert your url in their guestbook
4) Some buy referrals. Using mylot task could be a great idea.

thank you this is very helpful. I just want to ask how do you post urls in search engines? I also do not know hoe to create a backlink yet any suggestions where I could learn these?

Thanks so much ron wow this is really really helpful! lol I have my hands tied with new information to read and sort out and understand. I guess for newbies this is how the starting point really starts. Especially if you do not have background in internet stuff, it's like learning to make your first step, but I guess if you really want to be successful you have to put in a lot of effort and sweat.
