i feel like i've given up on ptc. i'm raising my hopes on freelancing, but still i can't get myself started.
it's the biggest deal i can find. are there any more? i wonder.
when i found other sites that hires freelancers, i can only go as far as 'being tempted' to sign in and do a project. but the thing is i don't know how to bid, and i don't know what sort of portfolio to show, since it would be the first time that i'll get into a project, if ever. right?
i mean, when/if you were a newbie how did/would you convince the employers that you deserve the job?
ughhh. frustrated much. :(

I wanted to change to but I don't even know what site to go to for a change? There's so many sites out there and don't know if they are scam or not? Does anyone know a good stable paying site that still works? Thanks!

there are a lot. it depends on what exactly you're looking for and on what you believe you're capable of.
if you're into writing, you can be a freelancer at the sites that are mentioned on the previous comments, you might find them useful. :)

I started the freelance business by writing for Helium, once I got comfortable with writing the way they wanted me to, I got my first writing assignment from one of the members, she wanted me to write for her but she wanted me to sign up for Get a Freelancer for the job, I did and wrote her assignment, then after I decided to try some of the others, I found that they were pretty easy and quickly got the hang of it, soon after I switched companies to Elance which pays a lot more for experienced writers with a proven track record, which I now had. I then started writing to associated content, triond and bukisa for more exposure and residual income. After that I got a job with demand studios and text broker, which meant I no longer needed to work for anyone else and created my own blogs for residual income. Now I make a full time income as a Freelance writer.

First of all, you need to overcome your fear. Really there is nothing scary in being a freelancer. I had the same fear, and actually I still do every time I start a project, but you will not accomplish anything if you are afraid. So just go ahead and join several freelance sites. Second, in every freelance site you can fill out your portfolio. Just be honest with this. State what your skills and knowledge are, and don't lie. Then just start browsing for projects that you know you can do. Once you find some, place your bid. You should never ask for incredible amount of money that probably the buyer cannot pay, but you should never be cheap. The biggest problem with freelance sites is that a lot of people place very low bids. You shouldn't do that. This hurts the market and undervalues your skills. And most of the people that do that are not really serious in providing quality work. A lot of times has happened that the buyer would choose a low bidder and then be unsatisfied with the work and had to post the project again. Also you should always message the buyer saying why you would be the best choice. Say if you have had previous experience with similar projects, that you are clear of the requirements or even ask for him to clarify some. State that you are devoted, good worker and will deliver quality product. This is basically all it takes. Once you win a bid, its all up to you to produce quality work so that the buyer will be satisfied and maybe even create a long term cooperation.
Hope this helps

I started by writing for a site called triond. I did this because I wanted money for an online game but m parents would never pay. I was jealous of my peers because they have all these cool gadgets and I have nothing. So I started writing. So far it hasn't brought me much money... But hey never lose hope.
