hi mylotters.
i'm thinking of starting a photoblog on blogspot.com. i just like to take photos. im not doing it to make money, just wanted to post my pretty (i dont know if anyone else finds it pretty tho :P) pictures online.
is full resolution (around 3000ish x 2000ish) a good idea? or should i shrink down to a 'web' friendly resolution (1024x768)?
thanks for the replies

For the sake of your viewers, you should resize to a web-friendly size. If you upload the full size but limit the display size, the full sized photo still has to be downloaded and this will make the page perceptibly slower.
Probably for a blog page, even 1024 x 768 will seem too large (for many people, that would be full screen). I would try 800 x 600.
If you are using Flickr as you storage space, Flickr does the resizing for you and you can upload the full size and then link to the appropriate size in your blog. Then if you are going to let people use some of your photos as desktop images, you can allow them to download an appropriate size from Flickr.

filesize would indeed effect loading time for the page. i have been considering which to go with.. more detail in the picture (higher res) or loading time. but i never thought of using web-friendly size and providing a download link for people who wants to see the higher res.
or maybe i'll just use flickr lol
anyway, thanks owlwings.
