Newbies and money. Learning to earn.

I have seen a lot of similarities in the ways newbies try to earn money online and why they fail to earn more than a few cents. I talk with some of them when they ask me how can I earn about $100 a month with only international sites. I think part of the answer, as in everything in life, is work. There are so many people that think they can become rich in a month. Gurus sell their products that way, but I´d say noone except a very young person would believe in that. They get inot PTC sites (even the best ones) and get tired of clicking after a week. They come to mylot and expect carloads of cash after a couple of post (that many times get deleted because they haven´t read the site´s rules). Do you think there´s a way of explaining the art of earning (anywhere)? Have you followed this path before you discovered some truths? As for me, I think the only big mistake I made when I was a newbie was an excess of trust in scam sites (and investing some money there) and not checking enough before I did. Still, I paid it dearly sometimes. I did not invest a lot, but it was my work online that I lost. What has been your worst mistake? Share please. There are newbies around waiting to learn from our failures. Take care!

I have never really been on many earning sites, so fortunately I have not had many mistakes. I did do one site that was supposed to be a legitimate site, and it had paid its members for a while. After I joined and had accumulated a decent amount of money, however, the site suddenly became suspicious by delaying payments, etc. By the time I had "cashed out" for my earnings, they were definitely going downhill, and I never did receive a penny from them. That was my first experience with on-line earning, and it was definitely not an experience that I care to repeat.

There were a lot of those sites in 2008 The money interests here were filled with them and a lot of them were paying for many months until things started going wrong when just about anyone who could afford to buy a script opened a site and started scamming us I guess one of us would still be here posting if we had all received our payouts

Zed - Thanks. MysD - I guess that it is a "blessing in disguise" that I did not receive my earnings as you are right that I might not have found my way here if I had received them. Still, I "blessing" was definitely not the word that I would have used at the time.

I wish I can help with more, but currently, I'm mostly spending a lot of time in the lot, and I have tons of work to complete each time. If not, I'm able to earn from blogging too. I've locked it since, so that I could focus on work. It's already taking bits of 'fun' time when I'm in the lot, so I cannot afford to blog too.. Therefore, my best advice to newbies might be to gain as many active referrals as possible and keep on their quest for finding new sites or existing ones that may earn for them. I think as for worst mistake, I don't really have one yet, and hopefully it stays that way.

I know, Jo! My shoulder is hurting a lot, but the mean young therapist says that´s the way it should be.. It does seem it´s getting better as the girl says.

I agree with you that online work just like most of life will earn you as much as you are willing to put in. It is hard work especially when you first start out and the earnings are usually dismal to begin with. I would advise newbies to be patient and do your research because just like you I have been scammed in the past; you live and you learn! I am extremely careful of investing any money and I rarely do. In would say my biggest mistake was expecting too much too soon.

I suppose the owners of scam sites know that many newbies will fall for their promises of riches. It is tempting at the begining. Lated one learns not to spect to get rich.

my mistake was i joined mylot 10 months ago but only this month i became a regular poster of discussions and respond to most of the discussions done by friends or discussions that i like. now i've learned that i need to be patient and that i need not waste time on other things except to work hard if i want some earnings to flow. and also to check out the forums about the other sites. right now i'm almost there for my first cash out this coming 15th next month and so excited about it. i'll make sure to earn a lot before the month ends so that i'll have an excess money i can use for my shopping before holidays come. i am enjoying it here you know since writing is one of my passion. this is the only site that i've not let go even though i'm not that patient.

Welcome to mylot! It is very usual to have little patience when we talk of money! Specially when there are so many gurus promising us wealth in little time.Work and time does it.

I guess everybody makes mistakes. It is important to learn from them. Even I had been bitten from a a few sites. Most users here have the same unpleasant experience of being scammed. It happens to all of us here whether newbies or not so much new. I have not found the secret key to earn a lot of money online despite that many claim that they ear 2000 usd per month. I am not saying it is not possible but at least I find it a bit hard to believe. If I had not found the treasure for golden money I have found a place where I can debate, I have found friends some genuine persons here too. I look forward for their discussions and I do look forward for their reply in mine. Earning a bit is on the side but I still appreciate it.

I see you earn a lot more than I do. It´s probably because I don´t have many computer skills. I don´t have a blog and I don´t even know what HYIP is.. Still, the $100 a month I earn are enough to travel every year. With your knowledge, I bet you will end with a good profit this year. Take care!

Ive earned online for only about 9 months now so i dont have alot of experience. I enjoy mylots the most and to the newbie it is fairly simple to get started. Biggest thing with mylots or any online earning is to read the TOS and make sure you know the rules before you play the game. Same goes for starting a blog theres lots of leanring and reading of TOS to make sure you dont fall flat on your face. If you jump in with both feet and break the rules alot with a program you can get terminated from a valuable money earning program rather quick. Anyone thats earned money online will tell you its work- in fact ALOT of work this isnt an easy stay at home enjoy all your free time and get rich doing it. Earning online in the beginning consumes way more hours than a full time regular job and it doesnt happen fast. I would say even after 9 months im still very much a newbie in some forms of earning and the learning process never ends in this business.

This is one great discussion! thanks for starting this one. I am a newbie and I know there is so much to learn. I´d tell you you from experience, don´t invest until you learn. That´s a first!I´m making $100 amonth now, but it took some time to discover what NOT to do. Finding legit sites is not easy; there are too many scams all the time. Its not easy either to get referrals: I prefer a thousand times 1 direct referral that I know instead of 10 rented ones. That´s wht I trade sites or hand down part of my earnings is I get a referral for a good site. Luck!

While i would like car loads of cash I know that comes at a price. A very high price. I don't think I fell for any get-rich-quick scams though I almost signed up for one claiming to be "free". Everyone wants a subcribstion and I wasn't going to subcribe to anything. That's just plain... stupid and idioic. No one can get rich quick and it takes countless hours of dication to make a decent living. It takes me three weeks in fact just to reach payout min here, and that's posting and responding everyday spending several hours on end to do so.

Hi kaylachan, It seems that your reasoning is the only one that works. Hard work, long hours (at any work, be it online or not) is what helps us make a decent living. You cant expect a lottery ticket to land on your doorstep.I agree with you that those internet "gurus" will make us pay one way or another for believing their fairy tales. I earn now about $100 a month but it has taken me a lot of work and time. I have had to trade sites to get direct referrals and give part of my earnings to other friends who did not have sites to trade. And of course I now know that if I don´t work even one day, the earnings will be smaller. Last month I did not reach payment at mylot. I was absolutly sure I would make it and even have a bit more. But there was a big earthquake in my country the 27th and there was no electricity for some days and the payment will be next month. That´s the way it is. So now, as I don´t know how things are going to be in my country, I spend as much time as I kind doing the work I used to do in not so big a hurry. Take care!

Although I don't invest any money on those websites, I did make some mistakes on those earning websites. I did not read the rules thoroughly, and I simply register it, and all I worry about just how much I can make per day. So, I might violate some rules without noticing it. Also, it is important to read those mail from administrator to get updated information from their new policy and other great features if they launched it. I hope everyone can earn some decent money from these websites.

This is my first venture into online earning myself. I was referred to this site by a friend. I'm not really looking to make a large amount of bank, just some pocket change.

Hi Stevules, Welcome to mylot! Probably this is not the site to make most money online. But I can tell you it is by far the most rewarding in regard of meeting people fromm all over the world, learn about other places, share your interests ans so on. And yes, after you find friends with whom you talk often, you also start to make more money (just when you forgot that you had come to get money in the first place) There are other ways of earning money online (I, myself, earn about $100 a month) but this is the site where I have more fun. Take care!

Your title says it all. LEARNING is the best advice I could give anyone. I have been earning online 10 plus yrs. It has taken a lot of research and focus and dedication to get to where I am at now. I am not just referring to researching programs...but seo too if you are going to have your own site. And I do suggest getting your own domain as soon as you can afford to. Because if you are going to be in this for the long haul..you CAN'T afford not to. With your own site you will create an online presence and you will climb in the search engines as well. Bringing more traffic to your website/blog and in return earning more from your programs. I also suggest to people that they spread their online wings...there are MANY methods of earning online. So why limit yourself? Earning online is not a get quick rich venture...it takes a lot of time to build your referral base. It won't happen over night, but it WILL happen

just like you I fell into online scams and lost valuable hours. its hard when you are just starting out to make money online, but I am slowly but surely learning how this and that works and if I am not sure or plainly don't know, I post a question in the discussion so I could get help. Its a trial and eror process what may work for others may not work for you. I have been diligent with mylot and I can see my earnings increase. I have yet to wait for my very first payout and I am looking forward to that. wit the first sites I invested time in I have not been able to receive any payout so I left it and started to find real online job that pays.
