People chained dog inside their home. Isn't it cruel? You are destroying his freedom. You make depended. You are using dog for your purpose. You can say this is my lot to dog. To keep dog as a pet peoples/government does not feel bad. To (love) keep elephants, tiger, camel, snakes, birds etc as a pet is crime, why? Why not for dogs or cats?

dogs and cats are domestic animals. this means that they are good pets around a home. you're right when you said that chaining dogs or pets is cruel. i too believe it's a cruel thing to do to your pet. i have pets around the house (dogs and cats) and we don't chain them or put them into cages.

Dogs and cats have been bred to be man's pets, they have been modified from the wild for thousands of years. Wild animals are not pets and for both the safety of both the animal and the humans should not be kept as such. We are finding more and more how bad it is to upset the natural balance by trying to make pets of wild creatures.

well there are many issues with what types of pets one can keep, for the safety of others and that of the pet. A wilde animal is meant to be wild. Cats and dogs are not necessarily wild, are actually safer to family members.

its good to hear about your discussion, but as they said, dog and cats are different from tigers, lion, elephants, etc. for example, you kept a lion as a pet, would you chained it or caged it? if not, your whole family will be eaten by it., hahaha.. LOLz, another is, the dog and the cat, dog can be chained and can be not, same goes for the cat, but mostly cats not worth to be chained, they are mostly the perfect pets as you know it, they like to play, they are sweet, even though they are STILL a carnivore, they won't eat you family, instead, they'll love and play with you family..

If food is the problem then tiger will man. When you kept tiger at small age, i don't think it will eat man. If you trained from the beginning then they may not eat the flesh too. When tiger grew up in his own family he would eat flesh. when tiger grew up in your family he would not eat you. I illustrate this way.

Hardworking, Do you believe monkey eat flesh? in which category monkey belongs.? I seen in national geography channel moneys are eating birds. Now these definations of eating going to change. It's about the monkey of the deserts, there's nothing to eat, for living the eat flesh. And, about ox and cow, i have seen cow eating flesh.

Elephants, tigers, and other animals are not domestic animals, that means they are wild and can take care of themselves if they need to and don't really need anyone taking care of them. Dogs and cats could probably pretty much take care of themselves in the wilderness but would have a shorter life span. While training my dogs, I put them in a kennel in the house until they were house broken. If one of my dogs put a child in danger or was just very mean, I would chain it up or find another home for it. It may depend on the person who has the dog that is chained up and the reason why it is chained up. I let my dogs go in the house without tying, chaining or kenneling them up. they used to go outside to go to the bathroom and I let them run without a leash or chain, but then they got to where they will not listen and stay in the yard and don't want to come back when called so I got them a cable and tie them outside for a few minutes and bring them back in.

vine88 whoever chained dogs in their home should be reported to the police and the society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Nobody I know here in California, USA where I am does that. Most of u s love our pet dogs and would never do anything to hurt them. as for elephants, tigers, camels, snakes and birds they are all wild animals so of course you cannot keep them in you home, its illegal. but dogs and cats are bred solely for people as pets.

Hi, Hatley Thank you for your answer. I see peoples are earning from those animals. They make money from them. They are using them.

There is an old saying amoung trainers. If people don't want to train their dogs they chain. People want a pet then find excuses why this and that and pick any reason because I have heard them all. Truely most r just plain LAZY. If you want to leave your dog at home when you leave, build an outside pen with all the things a pet needs. A house to sleep in, proper size, cover or shade so it can stay in the sun areas with protection, plenty of FRESH water, a strong fence high enough so your dog can't climb, a cement pad half the size of the pen, the other half large stone on bottom small pea gravel on top for easy cleaning. There probably can be several additions if you want. If you don't want to or can't find the time there are trainers that train your dog, then as all good trainers will do take the same time they train your dog , usually an hour or more a day, then the same amount of time to show you, then stay and make sure you are doing the same as the dog is taught.. REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/ CARE FOR YOUR DOG/ PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U...

well some animals are not good pets for a home especially wild animals as cats and dogs are bred to be in a home. Our dog was always kept inside when we had him we had a dalmatian many years ago, but he became very possessive and it became hard to keep him he had left many marks on all of us. I would much rather if i had a dog to keep the dog in the house just in case someone would try to get into the house as a deterrent. I can really see someone trying to keep an elephant as a housepet unless you had a really big house its kind of impractical.

Yeah my neighbor had a pet tiger and one fine day it chomped his balls off. How do you like that for a pet. Besides dogs piss around the house as well as cats so they are useless either, you are right, animals should not be kept as pets, they should be free to roam and enhance nature. Man is also an animal and the government keeps man as pet!

Hi, Mcmario, I like your last words, sentence. It's very true. Government have given us a false freedom or false rights. We are born free but everywhere it's chain.

You're right; it is cruel to chain an animal up whether it's inside or out. In California there are laws governing just that: an animal can be chained outside 3 hours out of every 24, and it must have adequate shade/shelter, water, and food. But the difference is domestic cats and dogs are just that: domesticated. No one knows exactly how long ago they were made into companion animals. For many years, both dogs and cats were worshiped as divine. I don't know if my Pitbulls are divine, but I sure do love them :). I'd do anything for them.

that's rather a sweeping statement, vine. i don't chain my dogs. they are free to roam. but when there are people, then that's the time that i put them in cages, for obvious reasons. it you have a dog and chain them the rest of their dog life, it's grossly unfair. they, too, have a right, the right to movement. besides, keeping a dog chained or in a cage will lead to hardening of their muscles and then, probably, neuropathy.

Well, i accept that always chaining the dogs is cruel. But some homes like mine, we have our dog as a family member, it has its own room, a little bed and we love it as my first son. As you mentioned, i feel dogs and cats are not rare species and dangerous. While tiger, elephants they can pose severe threat to public when they go wild. Dogs and cats we can have them in control and they both are basically human pets from earlier days. And certain birds and animals are less in numbers, so they need to saved, that why government ban them from having as pet!

I think its because dogs and cats are considered domesticated. Elephants and the others animals you suggested are considered wild animals. There are different rules and specifications for different classes of animals. Dogs and cats can adjust. Wild animals have to be in specific conditions to thrive. Hope this helps. dl

Because cats and dogs have been domesticated and need more help taking care of themselves than a wild animal. They are usually less dangerous and less likely to turn on their owners, too. My dog and cat are well taken care of. They go in and out as they please, have healthy meals, get hugs and pettings when they want them and are left alone when they want to be. I don't consider that cruel at all. Neither of them has ever been chained up inside or outside, although when we walk in strange neighborhoods, they are on leashes. Both were started on leashes at a young age and think it is normal. They are not pulled or dragged and both give every indication they want to go for the walks with the leashes on. My dog rides to the store with me and my cat used to love riding on our boat, but didn't care for the car. Taking a wild animal into my home would be cruel because they are used to roaming freely, feeding themselves, taking care of their young and dying, if necessary, for the good of their pack, herds, etc. A wild animal is always wild and can turn on the owner without one regret, except perhaps that it didn't turn sooner. Then that animal is put down for doing what comes naturally. To me, that is cruel beyond measure.

I Don't Think Like That,Because On Ancient Times Dogs & Cats,They Came To The Men For Protection,Food & Care!!!!So They Needed The Men Like We Need Them... But I Think Is Very Cruelty The Way Of Some People Treat Them...Like The Hunters For The Skins or Heads,For Experiences & Other Things Like This...!!!!! The Nature Is For All & Not For Only Mens!!!! Enjoy Your Day!!!!

we keep the dog inside the house coz we got small dogs and not the big ones. sometimes i chain them outside if i get visitors and guests in the house. I think it's not cruelty if it's not always done.

It is perfectly alright to keep a dog or a cat as a pet. It is also perfectly okay to chain a dog. Only precaution you must take is that you should not use a choke chain as a regular basis, except for training the dog. You must also see there is a two finger gap between the collar and Dog's neck. You must not keep it chained all the time, except when you are taking him for a walk.
