I have three children and always at birth my kids go into 0 to 3 month clothing. Then they quickly out grew it. My daughter, Amber, is just eight months old. She now has to wear size 12 to 18 months clothing.
Amber is out growing her car seat. Her legs are really too long for the backwards facing seat. I will have to purchase a new forward facing car seat for her. In my home country there are strict laws about babies and children's car seats.
How heavy was your baby at his or her birth?
Did he or she grow fast and you have to get bigger clothes all the time?

Hi, maximax. I have three kids myself. My son was 6lbs and 7 and a half ounces at birth. My oldest daughter was 6.3 lbs and my youngest daughter was 6.0 lbs at birth. They do grow very fast especially when they are first born. Their pamper size never lasted but a month until they moved up to the next size. And sometimes with my girls, I would save their clothes and let the next child wear them. This kept me from buying more clothes. And it lasted much longer then.

The limit for most 0-3 month clothing is like 10 pounds right? My kids were all almost 9 lbs when they came out! My first was 8lb 10oz. My second was 9lb. My third was 9lb 13oz. I stopped there thankfully or my next probably would have been a 10 pounder lol. They all moved into 3-6 month clothes pretty fast. That is normal for babies though. My husband and I both aren't real tall though so the legs out of the carseat really didn't become a problem till they got older. Our laws here say you have to have your child facing backwards till they are a year old. I tried to stick to that as long as I could because I wanted to make sure my kids were safe. You could upgrade her car seat to a bigger one that can face both forward and backward, that should give her more room for her legs but keep her safer. I think with my oldest we ended up turning her around facing forward around 8 months of age. We went to florida which is about a 16 hour drive from where we live. She was miserable and bored facing backwards. So finally I just turned her around and she was the happiest kid the whole way lol.

Hello maximax,
I have one son only and he is now five years old. At birth he is more than 7 pounds. He was a little long also. He already looked like a one month old baby when he was new born and he grows really fast. I remember at six months old, we need to buy him clothes for aged 1 baby. Sometimes, when sales lady would assist us and ask us what is the baby's age and we'll tell her, she will show us clothes that are a bit small for our baby.
Take care and have fun posting. red_amethyst

I have only one child- a daughter. Her name is Lopa. She was very thin when she was kid. Now she is alright. You are an energetic lady. With your three children you travel throughout the world. I think for genetic reason your children are fast growing. You don't have to worry for your children. I hope they will be more faster than you in future.

My older one was slightly heavier than my younger one at birth. But my younger one grew faster than his older brother. He outgrew all his clothes very fast. But fortunately, I had kept most of my older one's clothes and the younger one is able to use all of them. But at each stage he is using the clothes his brother used at the next stage.
Now, I find that the older son...who is 9 is the one who is outgrowing his clothes sooner than I can get new ones. We are getting him bigger size clothes once every few months now!

I can TOTALLY relate to you maximax! My first daughter was born in 2006 and she was 9lbs 3oz at birth and she grew like a weed! She started off in 3 months clothing, newborn was WAY too small for her. My second (and last) daughter was born this past October (2009) and she was only 6lbs 13oz BUT she has seriously caught up to where her sister was real quick. She outgrew her baby bath tub at 3 months, when she got her first set of shots on January 7th at only 3 months old exactly she was 13 pounds 8 oz when they weighed her! She did start off in newborn clothes, BUT now she wears 12 - 18 months like your daughter and she just turned 5 months on the 7th! She has tall parents though! I am tall (5'10") and my hubby is a few inches taller then me! Our 3 year old is already over 4 feet tall so a lot of people ask her how old she is and think she's 5.

Mine were 7 lbs 1 oz, 6 lbs 5 oz and 5 lbs 13 oz. Naturally they outgrew their clothing way too quickly. The twins were in preemie outfits to start out with.

I can imagine you driving with your baby at your side wrapped with seat belt with a special car set for him. In the Philippines, the government is not very particular with that. We used to travel even long distance without set belts aside from the one sitting in front. Its too risky, but its how we are used to do her.
My youngest is now 4 years old almost five, its seems just yesterday when he was very small, babies indeed grows so fast this time, even talk like adults already.

It's a long time since I had my babies but I remember times were hard and I d espaired about how often I had to buy them new clothes. Mind you, children in those days weren't worried about wearing secondhand things and my family and community passed things around.
I think generally that children are growing faaster too. My granddaughter is not yet seven but we have to buy things for age 10.

My children are also growing quite fast .... I do not know how many centi per year their grow. Usually, for shirts, pants and shoes I bought two sizes above the size of the size they wear now

I don't have children, but I was 9 pounds when I was born. I was also 26 in. long. So I was a long, skinny baby! My sister was 8 pounds when she was born. My mom said we grew out of our clothes incredibly fast. When she goes to baby showers, she usually always buys clothes, at about 8 months or a year. Because she knows that baby is going to grow so fast, it won't be long before the mom will need clothes for the 8th month or at a year old.

Seeing babies grow gives me that mixture of sadness and happiness I can't explain. I remember KC being born at 6.8 lbs. I think babies these days grow really fast. I remember seeing changes so quickly that it felt as if things were happening really fast. I didn't spend much on expensive clothing as I knew this would happen. I think KC outgrew size S in 3 to 6 week's time after being born. I just bought the basics then until he grew up to be 5,and that's when he got his first Hush Puppies clothing from my mom.
