I start college in August to be a mortician. I am very excited about my career choice, and I really think it will be rewarding helping people in such a time of need. The money is good, also. My boyfriend is going to college for this as well, and we hope to eventually open our own funeral home. I have been told, though, that morticians often get really detached. Just like any other job, it has its pros and cons.. can you name some? And what do you think of this career choice?

I think that it takes a special kind of person to be a mortician. There are those that help bring us into the world and those who help us leave so to speak. I wouldn't worry about being detached tho there is some truth I am sure to it. I worked in a hospital and you get used to it but I was never really detached. I think I could handle all the front end of the process but not the body prep, that would be too sureal for me. And I think a couple team would be a nice change from all the men that run most of them! Good luck!!

I am glad that I had a response from someone that had a little experience, such as yourself. I don't think I am the type of person to get detached, but you never know! I'll try to occupy my time and do things that I enjoy with my boyfriend to try to prevent it! Haha! I'm glad you think the couple team is a good idea! Thanks for your response!
