Bluetooth is made for short range communication while wifi is made for long range communication, wifi is also a lot faster than bluetooth.Bluetooth is commonly used in mobile phones for file transfer.

Some people perhaps thinking about this question as well as you. I think that's because of people looking at the wireless technology in those technologies. Both wifi and bluetooth are using wireless technology. But there's lot of different of course on both on them. The most simple instance is wifi's coverage range is wider than bluetooth's coverage range. Although by looking we can see if those technologies look like a same thing, but technically the principal is different. Wifi technology has larger capacity and faster speed than bluetooth technology. The security does matter. In wifi technology, we know about the encryption which is seriously taken the highest priority. Wifi is mostly use for replacing the conventional cable LAN and since it's wireless so we can use it for larger area. Wifi signal strength also totally different with bluetooth signal strength. I think bluetooth signal is very limited and if it meet a wall, it can be useless anymore. Wifi technology seems more reliable for such purpose. According to your post on the top, no cabling required is not the difference, but it's the same thing between those two technologies. Just my correction. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

hell0! no, it is not the same- the common thing between them both is that they both are wireless technologies, but here it ends! bluetooth is a wireless technology to send some infomation to other users and devices, and the wifi as I know i a wireless internet connection, which can ensure you access to all the information in internet and it is much faster than the bluetooth!
