Running short on ideas

When you are running short on ideas of what to start a discussion about, where do you pull your inspiration from about what kind of discussions that you would like to start? I ask this question because I like to start at least one discussion a day Monday through Friday. I've discussed all kinds of things from reading to eating habits to things that are going on in my life. However, as I was thinking about what to discuss today, I was realized that I really didn't have any ideas. So, would you all mind to share with me where you come up with your ideas for the discussions that you start? Looking forward to hearing lots of new sources of inspiration.

I do not start a discussion every day as i find it hard to keep up with all the responses that i get so i try to start a discussion say once a week if i can.I find it easier if i respond to alot of discussions aswell as if i can not find a discussion to respond to i will go to the responses for a previous discussion i have started.I find that if i have done things or been some where during the day then i may start a discussion about the things that have happened,i find that easy.

hi jugsjugs when we write about things that happen to our f amilies we are sharing commonalities and that draws in so many as we most all have families and a l ot of us may share some of the problems you present and this makes for more interesting discussions too.

I think you are right there as i found out one night on here when someone else had a simular problem with their child as that way i did not feel like i was the only person with this problem.I have also found that there are alot of people on here that can offer good advice aswell as say the things that they have tried aswell that also helps us all.

I think that it is wonderful when we start or respond to discussions that really have something to do with our lives because I think that is one of the things that makes the connection between the members on here more real. It is great to be able to connect with others and I think that is one of the reasons that I am drawn into mylot every single day.

hi dorannmwin I often get ideas from something that a mylotter wrote in a discussion, or in a response, and go off on a different path so I do not make a same discussion as the other person at all. sometimes I get an idea from something that happened to me recently. I do go for a week or more between making discussions. I like to have time to reply to my older discussions first. sometimes it is something I saw happen which I did not like and wondered what others might think of it. Family issues, work issues and issues about teen age angst all seem to spur interest.

It is important to make sure that you have the time to respond to the discussions that you've already started as well as attending to the new discussions that you are starting. I really like to have a discussion about family issues because those are things that hit home with all of us in some way.

i am lucky if i start a new topic a week but where i get my inspiration from is watching tv, reading or listening to talk radio. it seems that there is always something happening in the world that is interesting and the truth is stranger than fiction sometimes. somtimes though, i get an idea just from someone elses discussion or something that i have answered with.

I've also gotten ideas for a new discussion because of someone else's discussion or because of the response that I end up making to the discussion that I am taking part in.

Well I have been running short on ideas for a very long while .Usually though when I am almost on E ,I usually get a fresh set of ideas from the weirdest place .I may be on the bus going home and I see something or hear some one say something and that is enough to spur some thought in my mind .i dont have a fixed place to go for inspiration it usually just happens

That is what had generally happened to me in the past. I think that a part of the reason that I've been struggling for inspiration lately is because of the fact that I've been under a lot of stress and that makes it harder for me to get something out of little or nothing.

You may have noticed that I don't create many discussions. It is because I get inspired constantly, and then forget what inspired me. So, then few discussions do I remember to post when I finally sit down to communicate and build relationships on MyLot. But, when I do it is from something that happened to me that day, whether it was a Lesson from the Missionaries, a lesson a church, a lesson at work, a lesson from my family, a less from my network marketing organization or the various groups I belong to. Or even once in a while a question that comes from the afore mentioned things. So that is where I get my ideas. I love and appreciate you.

Yeah, I think that is a better way of doing it. I would probably do more, if I remembered to write down what I was thinking, or if I told myself I had to do one everyday, I could research more or something. A lot of people do not seem to like my discussions though for what ever reason. Probably because for the most part they are Book Reports...lol. Cheers.

I do notice that you only seem to go through spurts with the discussions that you start. For me, I like to start them on a regular basis and a lot of the ideas come from things that happen in my life or through the things that I am involved in.

I´m always short of new ideas. So I answer a lot more than I post. I don´t like to race with myself. When I lose, I feel a bit dumb. So I´d rather not take chances. Happy posting!!!

I definitely answer more discussions than I start, but I do like to think of something almost every day to which I can talk to other people about.

I use my everyday life as inspiration for dicussion topics. For example, I really need to earn some extra money and had been looking at ways to do this. I found a great blog post called 5 ways to earn extra money from your property, so I started a discussion about that. I also spend a lot of time responding to other peoples discussions, which in turn sometimes gives me ideas for new discussions.

I have started some wonderful discussions based on things that I thought of while responding to the discussions of others. What is really funny about these kind of situations is that sometimes there will be another person that got the same thing out of that particular discussion.

I will usually look at the newspaper, or I will turn on CNN or something like that. I can usually find something in one of those places that pisses me off enough to post something, especially if they talk to much about Obama on there...

I'm sorry, but I have to admit that I agree with you on the point of if they talk about Obama too much. I didn't vote for him so I'm allowed to complain. Of course, I also don't feel that any politicians tell the truth.

I too find it hard to look for ideas for new discussions. What I do is I try to remember some experiences I have within a day or expound on topics from the news...although I see you've done that too. On the other hand, I ask here some questions that have boggled me for days, weeks, or even years. I figure someone should have the answer to my questions.

I totally agree. Even the simplest and silliest of questions could be asked here and many would be willing to answer. Also, questions that are simple yet very difficult to answer. Have a nice day!

Hi Dorann, when i run out of ideas and topics in mind, i just browse the discussions of other mylor friends and just respond on. i hate stressing myself out to make a new one but i can't. but along the way there are discussions that inspired me to start a new ones either related to the discussion with a new angle or a new one opposite to what the discussion is being presented. but of course i always want something unique. so i am more on my personal experiences, family, relationship, life and the kids.

I normally respond to several of the discussions of others before I will start my own discussion during the day for that reason. I often find that I think of a subject based loosely on what other people have discussed.

I have been told many times that I ask too many WHY questions . . . and that I come up with questions that no one can really answer . . . so I guess myLot has been a perfect place to pose some of my more answerable "discussions" - hee hee. Since I'm so accustomed to thinking about questions all day, I try to use them for myLot. All my "ideas" stem from things that happen in real life . . . there's always something that comes up . . . like a thought(s) of the day. Of course, I don't write them all down and forget most of it by the time I am to get on the computer . . .

It has happened to me a couple of times that I thought of something that would have made for the perfect discussion and I will have forgotten about it before I had the opportunity to pose the question on here. That is a big part of the reason that I always have a pen and paper handy now.

As far as I am concerned, I usually post one topic in mylot . For me, I just usually post the discussion about the daily life, what the happines and sadness happened in my daily life. Sometimes, I will just talk some topic about the area which I just do not know at all ,and want my friends here can give me a hand to solve it.Have a nice day.

Inspiration for me comes in any form at any given place or time. I do run out of ideas to discuss but I go back to things in the past that has always left questions in my mind if I can't find anything to discuss with the present events. There when I go down to memory lane do I find things to discuss.

I've yet to really start any discussions about things that really happened in my past. But, thank you very much for giving me a great source for future discussions. I did have some really interesting things happen in my childhood that would make a great story on which to start a discussion on.

Sorry, I'm not much of a source of inspiration. I find myself struggling for discussion ideas every day. That's why I've only started three, and I've been MyLotting for almost two weeks. I've noticed there seems to be a lot of very similar discussions ongoing already.

There are a lot of similar discussions that I have seen as well. And when there are a lot of discussions on the same topic, that is when you will see that there are discussions that are deleted. Congratulations on being so active on here during your first two weeks. You will defintely be seeing your first payment in no time flat.

These days my ideas for discussions mainly come from things that happen in every day life. Silly things, serious things, what I'm feeling, what I can see at the time. I don't start that many discussions though, :-D

I have noticed that there are some people that only start discussions and there are other people that only respond to discussions. I have a lot of fun with the discussions that I personally start, but I also really enjoy taking part in the discussions that others have started.

I try to think of questions Ive always wanted the answers to. Things happening in current events. Sometimes its personal experience that I use to start a discussion. I dont start discussions just to create one. Meaning something silly or that's already been done. Happy MyLotting my friend dl

That is why I don't start tons and tons of discussions. I don't want to be the person that starts a discussion just to say that I've started a discussion. I want the things that I talk about to be meaningful in some way.

I haven't started any discussions in a while. It could be down to a lack of inspiration but i have pretty much being focusing mainly on posting in other discussions. When i start a discussion i usually take something id probably think about in my everyday life, things i see and think about :)

I do focus a lot of my time and attention on responding to the discussions of other people, but I also really do like to start my own discussions as well because it means that when I am responding back to those people that I can stay with the same topic for a longer period of time.

There are a lot of things that would be wonderful for starting a discussion about. However, some of these things are difficult to mold a discussion out of in my opinion. Oh, I may have what would seem like a wonderful idea, but putting it into words is where I find that I struggle from time to time.

A couple of the discussions that I've chosen to talk about on here have been pulled from things that some of my friends have started discussions on with our playgroup website. I think that one of my favorite discussions that came from that source was one about what mommy wanted for Christmas.
