i try to control my blood sugar with eating oatmeal. i am not diabetic, but i just want to prevent it. i use to eat it with sugar and chocolate milk. it is more delicious if i eat it that way. is it ok? i mean i still add sugar there while i am trying to control my blood sugar.

Your blood sugar will go up eating both the oatmeal and the sugar - it is double trouble. I suggest instead of using sugar, use Agave. Most supermarkets carry it now and almost all health stores. It is sweet, but does not raise blood sugar. It does have about the same amount of calories, maybe a little less. Agave will not raise your blood sugar level like the sugar you are using will. It does cost more, but it is natural and tastes good! Another options would be Stevia - it comes from a plant and is sweet, but to me it leaves a little after taste. Stevia does not have the calories that the Agave does though. Look for the real stuff. There are a lot of companies making bad stuff. All you need is a bottle of powdered stevia and you are good to go. I am not a doctor so talk to a health care professional before trying anything radical.
