Walking after dark?

The neighborhood that I lived in a few years ago has imprinted itself on me. There, I would literally run from where I parked my car along side of the street to my apartment. Being outside after dark there scared the hell out of me. Here where I live now, there's little to worry about.. Most people here don't bother to lock their doors, but I'm still extremely paranoid from living in that bad neighborhood for so many years.

Well, I dont have any choice but I need to walk after dark. Because my work end up at 12mn and since there is no more transportation at that time in our place. So I need to walk from office going home. It was a good thing that our neighborhood are guite place. However I dont know my neighborhood even if I grow up in that place.

No I never walk after it is dark and late. First of all it is not safe. Secondly, we cannot see properly at that time as it is dark and street lights may not be enough to see the roads properly. We may hit a stone or come across pits and fall down. Why to invite trouble?

I live in the city, and in the heart of the City's business district, so the city doesn't sleep at all. I can walk around at 2am and still be safe, though it's very seldom that I do that. When I'm home at the province in my parent's house I don't go out late at night. I never walk alone when it's dark, cause we have neighbors that are incredibly questionable, and there are a lot of incidents of robbery or even rape around the province.

You're right. Never be comfortable working after dark because anything is possible. Sometimes, some good people turn bad. Don't put too much trust. Peace in a community doesn't mean there is an absence of evil. Anything can happen within split seconds. The only constant here in this earth is change. Although you can enjoy relaxing outside after dark, don't neglect to be aware of your protection and crime prevention.

I'm a girl. But I always walk alone after dark. It depends on the security environment. But it never be too careful.

yea if I still lived in a neighbourhood I would...(I live in the country)..but I'm a former street kid so things like that dont really phase me...They (things like that) probably should I suppose but I'm just too thick headed and nutty to really care ya know LOL

I do feel ok walking with my dog. Our neighborhood is ok, nothing real special but I dont fear walking at night. A lot of it has to do with how you carry yourself. 4 large dogs help too!

I've always been a walker and the time of day has never bothered me till lately. I've always lived in safe neighbourhoods and I've always been light on my feet and sure footed. I still get the urge to walk at night but several things stop me: ~ The mozzies and other bugs are awful and I hate repellent on my skin and clothes. ~ There are only dirt roads around here and the lighting is not the best. The three street lights nearest to me have been out for months ~ While I am still young, my inactivity over the past 10 years has seen me gain a lot of weight. This makes me fearful of falling as my knees are in a bad way and other problems. If I fall down, I can't get myself up. Ordinarily, I would not walk after dark but if I had a torch or it was a moonlit night I might still go for a stroll.

Well, I would love to. I just really love going out in late nights. I love walking in the dark even it's kind of scary but if I am with someone, it's just okay. If I am alone, I don't go out of the house anymore. I never leave my home and stay outside alone. I'd rather have someone with me so I feel okay. But I would really love to walk after dark.

No, I do not think I would take the chance. In numbers may be safe, I would think hard about that too. More things happen after dark. People today do not want to get en voled so you never no whether you could get help.

not really. our house is facing a street were a lot of vehicle pass. so you can sometimes feel comfortable walking there for it is kinda busy even after 10pm. what is very annoying is that there are people who ride on motor bikes who noisily pass and can wake up even you are sleeping very tight already. it leaves our son crying because their scooters sounds freaky in the middle of the night.

I enjoy taking a walk after the dark for the peaceful mood the night gives me with the pleasing music from my MP4.It's always takes away my sorrow and anger that be piled up in my mind.

Around the neighborhood I live now, of course! The last few places I lived I would only go out at night if there was an emergency.

I walk around my neighborhood at night. I've never really lived in a place that I felt unsafe and if I did I would just be sure to take one of my dogs. I always liked walking/running at night better. There's less cars, less distractions, it's cooler, and it's a good way to release the stresses of the day.

Yeah I do walk around after dark but only sometimes. The place I live has high crime rates and high reports of rape and murder. There is also a giant park area near me and it's notorious for people getting dragged into it and being attacked and murdered. It's also really quiet around my house and there isn't a lot of lighting so it's really dark. It isn't really a place you would want to walk around at night time really. If I lived in a different area I would probably go out a lot more.

it would depend on the neighborhood i'm in. in my case, i wouldn't dare walk alone in my neighborhood past 11 o'clock at night. bad guys walk on the streets seeking for lowly victims so they can have their money. as much as possible, i try to go home early. if i couldn't, i would rather stay at a nearby friend's house and just go home early in the morning.
