what do you do when you feel rejected?

Today I tried to sign in at Helium. I was able to join yesterday and I figured I had the whole day to create articles. Because it's my first time to submit an article, writing one took me forever. But when I went to helium and tried to sign in they told me that their service is not available in my country. I tried hitting join again but the same message appeared.
Another rejection:
Just got banned from a writing site because an article I submitted contained grammatical errors. The site pays good but no way in their FAQ did it say that I'd get banned if I turned in an article with grammatical errors. Of course I know its my fault but I feel so down today. I was expecting a notice for more revision or something like that. Not get banned in my first attempt to post.
I'm frustrated and about to give up on writing on-line.

hi abitcurious.
I can only try to lift you up. It's up to you whether to take my advise or ignore me...so here goes.
If you believe in yourself and you know you can write well and about so many things, then don't give up. Life is filled with rejections and its up to you really how you shove those rejections aside and move on.
The important thing is you tried. And you learned something out of it. Treat each rejection as a blessing in disguise. For you will be a stronger person after you accept that rejection and realize how much potential you have that those people overlooked.
So get moving and write, write write :) Happy mylotting.

hi chabawel!
A dent on my self esteem but I think I will survive. I know how important it is to move on and learn from my mistakes.
I will write, write write. Thanks for this friendly shove.

Getting banned for a grammer error seems very harsh, no one can write perfectly all the time, we all make mistakes from time to time. There are plenty of websites looking for good writers, while rejection can be hard, just take it in your stride and look for somewhere else. Have you tried www.textbroker.com ? They are one of the leading sites for writers and publishers.
What sort of articles do you write? Could you post a link to a sample of your writing?

I haven't tried text brokers yet. I'm mostly a computer buff so I was going for an articles that details removal of malware without formatting your hard drive. I did post some musings in side tick. I'll PM you the link if you want. I think we're not allowed to post personal links here. Are you a writer too?
I sure would love a comment from someone.

Yes, PM me a link please. I'm not a writer, but I do a fair bit of writing myself for my websites. When I can afford it I would like to hire someone to write for me as I find it very hard to write good articles. I'm sure that what takes me days to write a gtood writer could probably do in a couple of hours.
Have you tried contacting owners of computing websites and blogs directly asking them if they would like you to write for them?

Haven't tried contacting them yet. Once I get on my feet and maybe have developed as a writer I'll be able to summon some courage to do that.
Until then, I think I'll have to settle for writing jobs that don't pay that well. Or maybe start a blog of my own. But I have no idea how to start one let alone maintain one. I'm still searching for the right site.

Never pay heed to these rejections because if you do, you will be more weakened. Just think of it as a mere block you could not overcome, try hard next time.
Whats the fun in success if you have never failed, you cannot understand the meaning of success unless you taste fail.
Do not take it negatively, instead try to improve your skills and someday you will see how much you have improved, and that day when you compare yourself as of today you will really feel very proud of yourself.
Giving a practical example of myself, one and a half year back I was a noob in Adobe Photoshop, I always was mesmerized by awesome photos created by Photoshop. One day I told myself if someone can do it, why can't that someone be me...and then I started reading online articles, started browsing for tutorials and learned several techniques, and trying out by myself I found out some really awesome photo effects.
And about you to get out of this rejection phase try to involve in something productive, the things that enjoy doing, go and watch some good movies, that is what I do, or play some cool games.
Best of luck!

Thanks this really makes me think of myself a few months from now. I guess I have rushed into things and maybe got a bit over confident. Kudos on learning new things on your own. Learning something new lets us persevere more.

Aww, don't take it personally. It's actually funny how members being banned just because of that reason. Sounds like a snobbish site to me. What's the name, if you don't mind telling us, LOL. Everyone's get rejected at first times, so, don't let that discourage you. Another thing is (people may not agree with me, anyway), you don't have to write a masterpiece The New York Times kind of article, because it that's what the site requires, I think they should pay you with The New York Times payment rate as well.

Oh I forgot to mention the site. Constant Current. They said they have high standards so they didn't want writers like me to plague their site --that's me still sour graping by the way, so this is really subjective.
I agree about good compensations for good articles!

I know just how you feel. I was in a physically and mentally abusive marriage for 11 years before I finally escaped. The experience left scars on my self esteem that I might never overcome. I have found a few good sites that I write for that encourages me to write and is grateful for my sharp wit. In turn I am becoming more self confident every day. Hang in there! What is a good fit for one person might not fit another.

You can't give up on your dream. If you do, you will always wonder what could have been. One thing I have learn through my few years of online writing is that you will grow as a writer each day. I had an English teacher who was also a coach of mine who told us this: Perfect practice makes perfect It was a joke he would say to remind us that we needed to practice. That is what we do each day as writers, we practice. We edit. We get rejected. We get down and we eat chocolate. Then we pick ourselves up and start over.
Good luck.

Gone to sleep and just made everything clean at my house. Well, at least my definition of clean.
I did get a great news when I woke up today. Just learned that Triond published my article already. The same one that got rejected and got me banned from the other site. I read somewhere here that Triond is a bit more lenient when it comes to grammatical errors. But I'm fine with that. At least I get to improve on my skills.
More than that I get to help people just about to give up on their computers. I think I'll have more courage to start my own blog. But I'm still deciding on what I'll put on it so the blog still comes out as cohesive as possible.

Giving up and getting away from a very abusive relationship must have been hard the first time. It takes courage to leave someone you love and realize that you really have to move on. Most relationships like this would slowly strip you of your self confidence as well as your self respect. Physical pain is nothing compared to the emotional pain that this relationship brings. You really must have toughened up during the course of this relationship.
I hope that you would use this new found strength to face your new life.
I'm glad you have found a very supportive site for your writing. I'm still looking for a site that will cater to my interests and somehow earn from them. Could you suggest some of the sites you're in now? It doesn't matter if it pays or not. I just want something that will help me find my own niche.

When I am rejected I always say it's Ok just not to let myself very bad but after I always make sure that I learn from that rejection and try to strive again until I prove that I am not a loser.
For you, when I had read your discussion I already feel that you were better than I am in English grammar and still rejected. Then when the time comes that somebody rejected my article then I will not feel very bad..I need to learn more thats the only thing I know not to be rejected again.

My grammar needed some oiling a few weeks back. I didn't care much because a lot of people here in Mylot won't mind if you don't really have correct grammar. The important thing here is to take your message across.
But writing professionally demands more out of an International writer. In the first place, English is not our native language so we tend to mix up those verbs and nouns. Second, because we are Internationals, we tend to short change ourselves and settle for compensations much cheaper than native English speakers.
But oh well, quality demands a bit of of tears. So we strive and move on.
Practice here at Mylot and who knows we both would start earning from writing.

Hello abitcurious,
Try Triond.com to write articles and Bukisa.com and Redgage.com.
These places are more lient on grammar and the have spell checker on there system to check for errors and they pay per view (how many people view your article)
I think all 3 take international people too.
I hope this helps.
One rejection should make you feel bad there are places to write just do not give up till you tried everywhere online etc...
Look Monet artisit, or Van Gogh did they give up on there art when rejected repeadly? No... determination is what get where you want to be!!!
Thanks and have a great day (smile you are special person)
Good Luck
Sincerely Unique16

Sorry to hear that..well its always very hurting and disappointing when we are rejected for some reason or other. When some one feel we are not accepted for them or to their work, it hurts our ego and makes us depressed for sometime. But we need to prove them, thats the spirit. So dont give up and your interest just for these things.

I'm sure I will not be giving up soon. It's just a dent on my ego. Good thing about egos though, they don't matter if you don't let it run your life. And I have no plans of letting it get the best out of me.

you got that right. Either you get a job writing something that's really quite boring or you don't get enough compensation. I think you have to have a few years of writing online in pocket before you get really good rates.

Don't give up on this situation, remember there's no failure to those who did not surrender. If you are rejected try to find other option on this, then if this option is still rejected try to find other sites that cater your articles will and gives also a good pay.Frustration is a synonym of surrender...:)

woah!as for me I don't really like to be rejected, guess I'm afraid, but even if I don't doesn't mean it won't happen to me,right, well we just have to move on, and maybe this ain't for us, don't be discouraged, there's still lot of opportunities to come.

Yep getting rejected is quite a big slap on our egos. But more than that I realize that it just fuels my desire to try to improve my writing skills. I hope someday I'll be able to get back on that site that rejected me and start all over again.

Dont get discoraged when I started I was not a great writer, it took six years to become a good writer a really good writer, but before you send in your work, you should edit really good because if you have too many typos and grammatical errors they think this is all they can expect from you. Try Bukisa or Triond to see if they work in your country, I am not sure if they do but it doesnt hurt to try.

Sorry to hear that! But if you think you have some talent or have something that can be useful and helpful to others then just keep on trying. Everybody gets some rejection but they continue until they get the results they want.
If you search 'Colonel Saunders rejection' you'll see that he was rejected over 1000 times before someone finally bought his chicken recipe and the look what happened. So don't give up, alright!

Just recovered from a power outage so I just checked out my account just now.
I have been through a lot of rejections but this one seems to affect me because I just recently got back into writing. I admit without years of practice everything seems a bit squeaky right now.
I do hope things will look up in the next weeks or so. If nobody will accept my articles. I might as well post it in my own blog. I only have to start on that one. Hope I will not procrastinate much longer.

That's what I thought too, grammar shouldn't be the first factor in choosing articles. Grammar can be improved. Good ideas are hard to come by.

The biggest fear people have about is the fear of being rejected. Rejection is an undeniable fact in the mechanics of dating for example. But again, keep this in mind: it's better to have tried than never to have tried at all. And the good thing is this: most people don't reject right away. While we have hope and pray that rejection never happens, it can be a reality that we may simply have to face.

You're right. I haven't tried before that's why this rejection feels a bit personal. But the web is full of creative people and I just have to prove that I'm one of them. I just need to practice more and try to learn from this.
Bring those rejections on!!!
