There are a lot of demand for medical technologists these days, I should know because my brother is one (and just passed his board exams), and his girlfriend is also a medical technologist.
The girlfriend has been one for more than 3 years now and she usually would tell us that in their particular field, even though who have not taken the board exams could even work, just part time. I think you should go into those, I think there's no problem with you being a non-board passer to have a job because it's the Registered Medical Technologist who would sign and re-check your count.
I think you should also try to take the boards instead of going for a call center job. There are a lot of opportunities for you because your type of field is in demand right now. I could easily see hiring signs for your job.

these are choices we face in life. you are not alone. instead, take this as a learning experience. when faced with many difficult situations i normally consider two options. it's either to follow my heart or to sit down and list all the advantages and the disadvantages. writing it down would allow me to see things that i could never have seen with my thoughts clouded with emotions. if you ask me which one works better, i would say both. each has its own strengths and weaknesses in different situations and circumstances. it's best that you decide for yourself. with more options, i hope this should help you to make an informed decision. good luck my friend.
